I've got a 6 pack in the fridge ready to try.
Feel a bit embarrassed that I've never tried Pirate Life as their HQ is closer to my house than any pub is.
Usually prefer keg or bottled beer but willing to give them a go.
I hadn't been to Dan Murphy's for years before today, wow, there's a lot of beers there now!
Cans still have a stigma because it used to be what the cheapest beer was in but apparently it is way better as it stops light getting in, is easier to store and transport, cheaper, etc
I've always found it tastes different because of the preservatives put into cans, even heard something like sulphuric acid was used. Having said that I did go through a stage in my early 20s when I preferred can beer.
Cans have several aspects that differ to bottles :
Generally the mouth of a can is wider meaning you open your mouth wider meaning you get an enhanced flavour as you use more of your olfactory sensory neurons.
It's why many of the hoppy craft beers use the wide mouth cans.
Cans limit the amount of light hitting the beer ( An ol mate neighbour told me years ago never trust beer in clear bottles, he's right )
They have an internal coating now that eliminates the metallic taste of old. They get cold quicker and they're cheaper to make, cheaper to transport and are fully recyclable.
PAFC. Forever.
LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!
