We did too this year. Gave the British Hotel in North Adel a whirl last week and yep the Scotch Fillett medium rare was a treat. Stuff cooking it yourself when one of them is being done for nix.

The Hotel Elliot is good and the Victory at Sellicks is a hidden gem, if only it still had $14.50 King George Whiting fillets like they did in mid 90s.

Went away to the Pensinsula on the weekend. the Commercial in Cowell was sensational but the newly done up Eyre in Whyalla did what i thought was impossible phark up a Schnitzel.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

BBQ City on Gouger Street does great chinese at a very good price too. Their salt and pepper prawns are bloody amazing.

Any idea what that place has or is turning into?
I hear it was sold a little while ago.

It is now called Mangosteen
Very similar to Pepper Leaf down the road "modern Asian"
Went last Tuesday and was reasonably impressed, wine list left a bit to be desired though

Ever been East of the city? ... just asking

Booney wrote:Good thread,

So far we have used most of the Port side / West side vouchers.

The Bartley, The Newmarket ( Port Adelaide ), The Port Dock, The Lighthouse, The Dockside, The Birkenhead, The Exeter ( Semaphore Road ), Sullys Cafe ( Semaphore Road - highly recommended for breakfast!! ), The Red Ass ( Semaphore Road ).

Many of these are, simply, just pubs. The stand outs are the Birkenhead and Sullys.

We normally hit somewhere for a meal on a Thursday, this thread should be good as we look to head North / City bound more often.

Also, Caffe Primo at Munno goes alright too. ;)

Had tea there last night (Blacksmith inn) was awesome. Battered Onion rings were the best I've ever had and the Pork Fillet was amazing.

I rate Sweet Chilli in Paralowie, Chinese joint behind the Clovercrest and Uleybury winery is awesome as well although I doubt anyone has even heard of the place

Actually, I take my first comment back. Jack Ruby does the best burgers, but it can be a touch pretentious down there (and they don't do takeaway).
