Doesn't phase me who people want to get married to - if they love each other and feel it's the right thing for them, then each to their own.

It's just a name change and piece of paper anyway - what's it really matter?

To those who don't currently have that basic right, a lot.

It's basically a way of saying that homosexual people aren't the equal of their heterosexual counterparts. Homosexual folks have the right to vote, drink alcohol, work, pay taxes, own homes and own/drive cars, yet they can't marry?

Im genuinely interested in why you think two men or two women shouldnt get married.

Two people whom i dont know getting married means doesnt affect me one iota.

A lot of people against gay marriage bring up the fact that kids should have a mother and a father - well newsflash, you dont have to be married to have a kid, you dont even have to be in a relationship. So surely two loving same sex parents is better than a single mother or father.

And lets face it, homosexual couples should be allowed the privilege of being as miserable as the rest of us :D

Hey, I am not against a uniting of lovers.

But call it that. Or something better. Marriage is for man and woman. :D

My thoughts only. :D

Yep 100% agree. I hate seeing government waste $$$ on a vote that we kind of know is a done deal.

Each to their own, but I pretty much worry about my own backyard. Who other people want to spend their lives with is their business not mine, so I don't see why they shouldn't be able to get hitched if that's their choice.

Stop the plebiscite. Save millions. Tell our leaders #Australiasaysyestosamesexmarriage

In todays world to think one person has the right to tell another person what they can, or can't do is absurd and if you think your opinion on someone elses private life should be listened too you need to reconsider how you would feel if someone told you what you can or can't do in your private life.

Time Australia grew up on this issue.

also, marriage itself isnt about having kids. there are many, many married couples that dont have kids, and have no intention of having kids. its a complete red herring to bring kids into it.

the old argument about marriage being something to do with god is crap as well. the church gave up the rights to that decades ago when they let the government get involved. people can already get married without the church being involved at all (i have been to more non church weddings than i have church weddings) but just try to get married without filling in the appropriate forms with the government!

the current rules are archaic, discriminatory, and its well past time for them to change.

Sign o' the times, in a good way. The churches are desperate to keep the status quo going because it means they can still hold onto some of their waning relevance in the social policy space. Because desperate times require desperate measures, they'll chuck any old nonsense into the argument in the hope it gains traction, clutching at straws. The kids and marriage thing is an example of this.

I know of plenty of heterosexual couples that get married when they really shouldn't, and gay couples who have been together for years, set their lives up together, but can't marry. Dumb. Just let them do it already.

Would also inject a huge amount of cash into the economy on an annual basis. Weddings cost a damn fortune.

The sanctity of marriage in a Christian sense was ruined long ago when weddings could be conducted outside a church and annulled days later.

Surely a couple that had 0 or 2 dicks between them can't make it worse :)

But you can get married on TV without ever having seen the other person. Sanctity?

I think a dude I know has two dicks, surely he couldn't be that stupid by just playing with one.
