Too bloody hot to play!
After playing over 220 games over 20+ years I sat at the cricket in 37° heat last Thursday talking to an old team mate about the time we voted to
not introduce a heat policy.
WTF were we thinking?
If only we were a bit smarter when we were younger........
I get heat stroke playing indoor cricket these days.
Two hot ones stick out in my mind :
One at Coromandel Ramblers, was 45° but what a great place to play on a hot day, lots of trees etc, mate opened and made 176, batted until around 5pm, he was shattered. I had to drive his van home, he wouldn't have been able to do it. We stopped at the Blackwood Cellars, he got a 6 pack of pales, sank 3 before we got down the hill and was asleep at Daws Road.
Way, way back we used Henley Oval as our second ground, we put cones out around the ends as the boundary but used the wing fence lines as the boundary. It was brutal, 45°, we fielded all day, the other mob made about 180 odd from their 60 overs, it was slow, slow, slow, I think 8 blokes bowled.
