Been told many government workers will be returning to the offices next Monday and working from home will be ceased.

I got an email from HR saying i'm set to return Monday, but it's a 1 and 1 roster - 1 week in the office, 1 at home.

The wife has had that system going for a while, hence the reason why I suggested to my boss that it's just far more practical for me to come in to the office each day.

It's shit. I'm far from keen to chop/change between locations.. but I am super excited to actually get the f**k out of this house!

Yep, I could imagine, I've noticed some changes with her over the last week in particular, the only real positive was that dinner was underway far earlier and we've had more slow cooked meals.

This is worth a read. Most economists surveyed by the ABC think that the benefit of social restriction to keep the growth factor below 1 outweighs the cost:

Also worth noting that several of the economists recognise that the restrictions do cause damage to the economy which will manifest in other issues, like domestic violence, suicide, etc.

I suppose the issue should really be reformulated as "How do we keep the growth rate below 1 while maximising social mobility?", i.e. how much social suppression is enough, how much is clearly overkill?

From my uneducated viewpoint, I think that right now restrictions could certainly be eased a little; taking the foot off the pedal might confer benefit with low immediate cost. The pedal can always be pushed a little harder later, if needs be.

Having the opposite effect in Japan:

The suicide rate in Japan fell by 20% in April compared with the same time last year, the biggest drop in five years, despite fears the coronavirus pandemic would cause increased stress and many prevention helplines were either not operating or short-staffed.

People spending more time at home with their families, fewer people were commuting to work and delays to the start of the school year are seen as factors in the fall.

#BREAKING The South Australian Government has announced they will be easing COVID-19 restrictions today.

From Friday, all café and restaurants will be permitted to seat up to a total of 20 patrons (10 outside and 10 inside) as well as sell alcohol to diners.

And from Friday June 5, all pubs across the state will be permitted to open.

The State Government has said they will outline ‘principles-based approach’ in the coming days.
