I'm looking for batsmen for next season.. given you've got no footy now, should free up time for cricket. 8)

Good from you intervening though, WTF is wrong with people?!

Sadly, only need one or two idiots to do as they please, and the impact on everyone else is severe :(

My sister spends a lot of time in hospitals as a patient and is a fairly tough cookie. Anyway last week she developed a fever (which she never usually does) so her GP told her to go to the Repat for testing. She contacted them and they (eventually) said yes we’ll see you, then said the earliest available booking is 8 days away

In 8 days she would have either been dead or coming good, but either way would have infected a lot of people along the way.

Interesting rumour I heard today.....with the delay of football commencing and the fact that football in most cases pays for community clubs survival the seasons will all be extended and therefore the start of cricket 2020 would be delayed....also some leagues have byes and zone chamionships will be scrapped to make room to squeeze more games in …..

there will be 10 games minimum played in every league so clubs don't fold with loss of revenue
cricket will take a back seat and start their season in 2021 if need be

Uh, yeah, right, that'll work.

The footy community needs to come to grips with the fact that this is bigger than our sport and let it go for a while. It's not coming back for the foreseeable future.

If the AFL don't have the reserve funds to get through this what are the odds the SAAFL do?

Not quite- IF (and I say IF) AdFL gets up and running, it'll be a 9 game comp from June 13 and they have an option to go about 4 weeks beyond that, from what I know.

Ok so what am i missing here?
My football club (Angaston) is all run by volunteers, the coach and players get paid if they play football.
The clubrooms are only open on a Sunday morning outside of Football which now cant happen.
If they are not running a football side they have very minmal costs, bit of electricity to keep the fridges running, maybe a token amount to council for oval hire which i imagine will be waived.
To me its just an extended off season where there is no income anyway.

I simply cant see how an amateur club would go under from not having footy for a season?
