Self seeding was one of the reasons that many market gardeners around Virginia and Two Wells often experimented with the fruitless tomato in their greenhouses late 70's into the 80's.

These grew small fruit which I assumed may have been because they arrived late in the season from other plants.

Beans, beans and more beans. Prolific. They have gone well with the mild start to summer.

Will pick my first tomatoes today (cherry size) which is the latest ever. The bigger varieties have plenty of fruit and I suspect the warmer last few days will see some ripening soon.

Cucumbers also fruiting very well and taste is excellent, perhaps a result of the slower growing conditions.

Pumpkins are running everywhere but no open flowers yet.

I can’t keep up with my tomatoes, a few varieties of cherry toms, Black Russian and Roma’s.

My bowl is full, visitors take a container home with them and the plants gave heaps on them, I’ve got lazy with them though.

I live in Moonta and it has been a bumper year for tomato's up here, last year was ordinary but the current crop are over 6ft tall.
Everything is growing well, carrots, cucumber, beans, lettuce, sweet corn and all the herbs, only thing that has struggled are the strawberries, everyone is having the same issue, bugger all fruit.

Pumpkins have started flowering, all male flowers FFS.

Finally getting some tomatoes. Good season for the cucumbers. Good flavor and good leaf cover to protect the fruit.

We've got a steady stream of tomatoes coming now, been slow but now solid.

More cucumbers and zucchini than we can handle.

Corn is coming along really well and will be ready in a week or 2.

Squash producing better than we've ever seen.

A later crop but a good crop so far!

So this season.

Tomato's are flowering but no fruit set yet. Have about 6 varieties in.

I kept last years capsicums (pruned back) and they are setting fruit. will do this again as you get a much quicker start.

Beans are producing and had some last night.

Cucumbers are flowering and setting fruit.

Spring onions in. Sweetcorn only just coming up. Rocket is it's usual fast grower. Basil slow.

Thought about netting the peach tree last Monday before I went up the Murray and yep not a peach left.

Over the October long weekend we built a new garden, 2.5 x 2.5m

Tomato bushes are about 5 feet tall and 3 bushes out of 6 with reasonable size green tomatoes already. All have plenty of flowers.

5 strawberry plants all have fruit and flowers

Capsicums have flowers, watermelon is slow.

Carrot bushes are huge, pulled a bunch on the weekend and the carrots were small. Won’t do them again

Other plants (spring onions, raspberries, cucumbers) just plodding along ATM.

Still no fruit set on the toms. These cool nights (below 13) will stop them and the forecast for the next week is for every night to be 13 or lower.

When did you put yours in?

Removed the carrots today, huge bunches with lots and lots of small carrots and put in corn.

Good question.

As a seedling (I raise from my own seed) early to mid October.

Just had a look and there are two set. Plenty of flowers and getting good plant growth. I just have to be patient.

Still haven't watered since the deluge and everything is booming.

Warm weather this week should push everything along nicely.
