delayed telecast of wimbledon

and theres plenty more

the rule should be :- if you cant telecast it live forfeit the right

I'm all for sport being on free to air but as has been said, if these stations won't show it live and wan't to show it when it suits the station, well too bad if it ends up on pay TV.

Going to be interesting next year with no pay TV coverage (ATM) how is channel 7 going to show footy on a sat & sun arvo when they have the contract to show the V8s next year too?

Given that most weekends the footy is 1 x Fri nite, 2 x Sat arvo, 2 x sat nite and 3 x Sun arvo........

here in lies the dilemma for save our sport case.....to see all the sport we want becasue the free to air don't always show it Pay TV is a must.

Easy the V8s will get bumped to a delayed timeslot except Bathurst which will be shown live after the footy has finshed or Ch 10 will do Sunday games while 7 does v8s

Sunday games have traditionally required two providers (1997-2001 Ch 7 2 games back to back & C7 sport the other game, 2002-2006, c9 2 games back to back and FoxFooty the other game) If it is just 7 & 10 next year, they have a problem....

Under C7s contract, the V8s must be shown live, or relatively live as is on C10 now.

Free to air channels deserve to lose sport. Look at the cricket this week. Tas v Qld (?) in a day night match on a Wednesday. Can you imagine 2, 7, 9, 10, or SBS ever showing every ball live? Missing out on all their big (ie cheap to show) rating shows? Of course not.

The Japanese GP last year was rated as one of the best races ever. We got a shit highlights package, where they would go to a commercial and come back 13 laps later, missing pit stops, and all the cars were in different positions.

The sooner more things go on Foxtel, the better.

What I can see is both 7 and 10 have each got 3 digital channels they can play games on so having a few games is possible to be shown at same time.
I agree though that if they can show live or slightly delayed by under an hour, give up the rights to someone who will.

Seven - Home and Away is garbage, and Dancing with the Stars is BS
Nine - Get rid of the Footy Show because it's in the way
Ten - Big Brother is a disaster and should be yanked

What Home and Away garbage!! Great perve though.
Big Brother / Dancing with the Stars- agree 110% **** it orf.

By law, commercial channels can not have a "seperate" digital channel in the manner of ABC2. They get to have an information/programming channel and that's it.

Those ads on 9 & 10 are so hypocritical - it was Ok when a deal with Foxtel suited their mutual interests, but now that Foxtel have betrayed channel 9 (from their perspective) and bailed out (from 10s perspective) of the AFL deal, they are up in arms. Channel 9 has gone to the dogs since Eddie took over - if I see one more show with a list (20 healthy living tips, What a Year, 20-1 References to Patti on a Bert Newton Tribute show) I'm going to puke. I'm no fan of Foxtel but those free-to-air ads are as offensive as the McDonalds propoganda doing the rounds at the moment.

Screw the 7, 9 and 10. The sooner all sport is on PAY-TV the better. How soon people forget what a mockery 9 made of the Ashes tours in recent times. I wanna see it LIVE.

f**k free-to-air stations- they've treated us like mushrooms for long enough. So what, pay tv is making them more accountable- that's a good thing! Now they run ads in prime time, crying about their demise. Sorry, but I just don't care.
I live without pay tv, through choice- if they showed SANFL in some form on pay tv, they might be a chance to get me interested.

Punk you might change your mind, on PAYTV at 6-30 they
play The Flintstones.
They show the ABC SANFL game replay mid week.

Punk if I gave up PAYTV it would be like losing a kidney,
the sports coverage is a superior product.
So is Broadband......
