You think you're safe ....
And then there's another shooting
Did anyone see the news last night ?
Sent a chill - the units are about 50 or 60 metres from my house.

My sister-in-law's brother survived a hit.
Walking out of the Bridgeway Hotel one night and...
BAM!
Slugged seven times.
Still has some bullets in him because it was too dangerous to remove them...

No offence intended here MP,a totally innocent question. How many people get shot 'randomly',or is there a 'reason' for getting shot? Apologies for any victims of crime who were innocent on lookers.

Definately in more shootings the victim is known to the shooter.
Other times, it would be unknown if it's a robbery or such.
My fiance's cousin was murdered in Angaston a few months ago - murder suicide :/

There was a(nother) murder about 2 weeks ago in Noblet St just next to the Findon Hotel (opposite where I work) which I think was about the 5th murder in the last 2 or 3 years in this block of flats alone ...

It seems to happen with more frequency. There seems to be more and more 'morbid attractions' in Adelaide.
The closest I have been was a shooting in West 29th St when I was staying in West 25th St a few years ago - heard the shot and the screams that went with it. I didn't sleep for 3 nights!

The quartet I was playing in for a while had adopted the stage name A.M.C - Australia's Murder Capital, until that is we saw a gang of graffitti vandals/gang using AMC as their 'tag'.

my b/f circa 1994 lived on the third level of this concrete jungle... believe it or not, this block of flats is endearingly referred to as the "Zoo" and at one stage had "Zoo" painted on the car park bitto. classy. rather sad actually as back then there was a deli for the flats - cooked good takeaway (apparently this is the biggest block of flats in South Australia) and there was also two large swimming pools for the use of tennants and guests.. now of course been filled in (no doubt due to liability issues) and no deli due to constant break ins, robberies etc.. what a sad indictment (sp) on our society.... after all low income peoples (not necessarily just those on welfare) need affordable housing also.

Last year after the Boxing Day Test there was a guy trying to break into cars in a local carpark. A couple of guys saw what he was doing and attempted to intervene. The potential car thief pulled out a gun and told them both to "F*ck off and mind their own business." They both persisted and both got shot (not fatally). Welcome to St Kilda fellas
That car park is three doors down the road from my place

I was having a quite drink in the Exeter (city) a few years ago, I saw two blokes running down the street after another bloke next thing the chaser pulls out a pistol and fires a couple of shots!!!

God of all the days I chose not to not to wear the brown jocks. Fortunately no one was hurt
I was in a country hotel pokie room a few months back talking to one of the locals, a woman walks in with an axe and beats the shit out of a couple of machines. Really scared the Mrs. I was OK

Was on the wrong end of a shotgun during a hold up in 1994, the drug crazed robber had it in my chest for about 30 seconds as I emptied the tills, threatening to "do it" the whole time...not fun

Aged about 14 I was virtually knocked over by an armed robber fleeing his robbery scene. He jumped in a cab next to me, pointed the gun at the cabbie's head and said DRIVE.
Mrs Squawk is a prosecutor so I've heard so many stories I could write a book....

Melbourne would easily be the Murder Capital of Australia- the Underworld "war" at the moment (started in '98) has seen about 40 murdered. Add in the domestics & others, & you start seeing some big numbers...
Agree though that the %'s of getting randomly murdered are very low- the victim usually knows their attacker, or is known to them.

None taken.
There were definitely 'reasons.'
Oh yeah...
