THEY STOLE MY CAR *&^$#%^&)(^&#@!^$*&%#

WEDNESDAY 29/11/06
--------------------------

Thursday morning the Mrs. went outside and my Ford was missing.
We reported it to the police, and quite understandably were dissapointed.
Having your car stolen from your driveway is an eerie experience, an invasion
of privacy, and the despair of losing.

FRIDAY 01/12/06
--------------------

Mrs spotted the car on the way to work and reported the findings to the police.
Police met us late afternoon as we picked up the vehicle from a street in Ingle Farm.
The Ford was driveable, but side mirror was damaged, side mirror was missing, the
drivers side panel was side swiped, there was other panel damage, the wheel alignment
was severley damaged, the suspension is proppy, and the car cuts out at times
on acceleration, and there was contents missing as well.

Our insurance company were inquisitive as to how we located the vehicle and I must
say were quite discerning in handling the matter.
We were left with the feeling of mistrust, as if we were doing a con job.
We were contacted on numerous occasions by the insurance company for versions
of events[to see if our original story had changed?]
On advice we were instructed not to drive the vehicle and to take it to a predetermined
approved crash repairer.

TUESDAY O5/12/06
------------------------

We took the Ford to the crash repairer who quoted a possible write off and because the
Ford was in a fair condition, the true value of the vehicle may be only about $1,000
to $1500, the market value for a 96 Falcon on LPG is about $4,000.
Being an ex taxi and having clocked mileage close to 6,000,000 kms was the reason.
The excess is $300 the repairer took photos of the Ford to send off to the Insurance company.
There is a distinct possibilty the Insurance Company may only pay salvage value.
We were allowed to take the Ford home.

WEDNESDAY 06/12/06
----------------------------

The insurance company rang the Mrs and we told them what happened, they were not impressed that we took the vehicle home without a mechanical assessment, and fair enough, but we were instructed to take the vehicle home by thier crash repairer.
By this time we built up some frustration at the process, innocent people being mildly interogated by an insensitive Insurance company.
We are the victims, we gotta go through the bullshit process we are incapacitated by a lack of a second vehicle, we are pissed off and inconvienced.

I went to bed at 1-15 tonight[actually Thursday morning] and got to sleep, and you would not believe it but there was a knock on the door and the Mrs answered at 2-00 oclock.
It was the police who wanted to know if I was home, we thought what the hell has happened ?
POLICEMAN:" We have located a Ford vehicle in your name at Ingle Farm."
We thought what the f..k is going on ?
You guessed it the car was stolen for a second time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We looked in our driveway and yes it was gone.
A person rang the police complaining of a car doing burn outs in the area, the police we assume must have been in the vicinity as the thiefs abandoned the vehicle.
I caught a cab to go 3kms [cost $7-60] geez expensive little ride and the driver was pissed off at a short fair *&^%$*&^$$#, and just for the record didnt know the street and did not speak english very well at all !
This time the burnt rubber stench of the vehicle, the transmission is revving, and the car was wobbly and hmn I think it might be write off material.

Ohh well when I ring up the insurance company they will have to believe it was stolen this time!

So right now deep in the early morning I have left the outside lights on and will stay up all night
as I have security concerns for the family.

Footnote: I had a car pinched at the dogs about 6 years ago, when I retrieved the vehicle at Mansfield Park the next day, a lady came out and gave me a description of the thief and the address of the culprit.
It was a young teen indigenous boy, the cops on reporting him at the station said because of who it was + the age that it was a waste of time of persuing the thief......
A couple of days later an insurance rep interviewed me at home and said I should put an immobiliser in the car [about $200 ?]
I said if they paid It would be saving the company money.....
The rep suggested I disconnect my distributor every evening.......
I suggested they go to the boys home and get reimbursement....
The rep said its a waste of time because the boy was ......
In disgust I terminated the interview and asked the rep to leave the premises....
The boy gets off scott free and Im left with the problem......

Moral of the story as usual innocent people get screwed by insurance companys
Only dishonest low moraled people make money from insurance scams.

In this case I have been quite civil about matters, Im afraid tomorrow I wont be.

regards,

MAL

Boy Mal, do I know how you feel!

On Monday I went to the local Coles here in Lincoln - parked, went in and did what I had to. Got home, and as I was walking by my car, to my horror I noticed that there was a huge scratch and dent in the back door on the passenger side! The pr*cks who were parked next to me in a landcruiser had backed out , swung into my car and driven off!

Whoever did this has cost me well over $600 (because I am 21 my excess is $500) and now my premiums will go up again once I make a claim!

My problem is no where near as bad as yours, but it definitely shows you what the world is coming to...

On the issue of cars.....

Everyone be on the look out for a WHITE VL COMMODORE. I know the rego but won't write it here.

The car has standard tyres/hubcaps on the front and MAG WHEELS on the back.

To cut a long story short;

I was at the Modbury Hotel Friday evening with a mate. We were going to go back to my place and drink on, but he wanted to go home first so he went there. At his house (which is actually my house I rent to him) were two other mates who were there for another reason. My mate talked to them and got his 4 month old Blue Heeler puppy from the yard to bring to my house.

Diesel (the puppy) usually runs around my mates feet - doesn't go far.

This time though, whilst he was talking to the two friends, Diesel walked a bit away from the group towards the road.

At the time, the WHITE VL in question came up the road (main road). My mate heard what he thought was a backfire. The car then did a U turn and came back, fist pumping the air, cheering. Then, drove off.

One of the two guys who were there went a bit down the road, and said "Chris, don't come down here..."

My mate then almost teared up and ran towards the road, where Diesel was lying on the road, dead.

The backfire sound wasn't a backfire - it was the sound of the car hitting the puppy.

The nerve of these punks (they were young boys) to not only hit a dog (what seemed to be) on purpose, but to then come back past like they achieved a milestone or something great makes me feel SICK to this day (it was two fridays ago now).

I was at my house drinking with someone else waiting for him to rock up when he rang just as my other friend was leaving. He told me what happened so I got a cab over to his parents house where he was with the dog, in the lounge. I sat with him and his parents until sunrise, when he dug a hole to bury his short term faithful puppy.

Every... EVERY VL commodore, white, that I see on the road I can't help but look at the wheels to see...

That's so annoying to read that. You're spot on. You shouldn't have to put up with that cr*p! I had my old Gemini stolen when I was only 18 or 19. Of course only had 3rd Party and fortunately the car was found by police a week later (or rather a resident reported the car out the front of their house), but everything had been stripped out of it and it wasn't the same to drive as it had obviously been thrashed about. When reported to police they said it couldn't be classed as stolen, but illegal misuse of a motor vehicle or something along those lines. It had been stolen from Henley Beach, driven up Military Road near West Lakes where they threw documents out the window and dumped at Golden Grove. Hope everything works out for you Mal!

My heartfelt sympathy to all those have put their sad stories above. I'm sick to death of the way people who commit so-called minor crimes get off seemingly scot free. :(

Know how you feel about the stolen car side of things Mal. Fortunately for me I didn't have to deal with the insurance company as my car was recovered and it was some sort of consolation to know that the theft of my car was the straw that broke the camels back in relation to a major stealing/stripping racket that was being run out of a Lonsdale shop eight and a half years ago.
Far as the posters go about age, far as I'm concerned charging (in most cases) exorbitant insurance if you're under 25, or under 30 as it is now, is a scam by insurance companies. It should be normal insurance rates no matter what your age is until you have to make a claim. Know that when I was 29, I went back to third party property because I couldn't justify paying $600 a year for a $4000 car when I've never made a car insurance claim.

I agree. Bought a car for $6700 a few months ago and it was going to cost $2700 for comprehensive insurance. I'm 25. Needless to say, I didn't take it up... hope my car doesn't get stolen! [-o<

I think you can insure for third party property and fire & theft at a relatively reasonable price, that's what I did when I was a young fella, 26 years ago

I feel for 'em too, but unfortunately that's the way it has to be. Were it not the case, too many weasels would rort the insurance system, and if that were to happen than everyone would suffer through skyrocketing premiums. (Like we don't already...)

By way of example, a friend of mine related to me the story of his neighbour who was broken in to, some years ago now. Said neighbour did a quick reconnaisance of the property and determined that none of the expensive jewelery had been taken. Neighbour then removed expensive jewelery himself and stashed it elsewhere, then added its theft to the police report.

When I become dictator of the country, I shall enforce the pillory as punishment for arseholes who rip off the community via fraud. Hang 'em up in stocks and let the masses pelt 'em with rotten fruit & vegetables.

... and anyone who torments a domestic animal (or a fairy penguin for that matter) shall be punished via the Great Big Steel Capped Boot of Justice (tm).

Mrs rang the Insurance company this morning.
The first claim is being assessed.
We now have to put in a second seperate claim.
I was zzzzzzzzzzz this morning , got to bed 6-30 this morning could not sleep
as feared the thiefs may have a 3rd attempt or break into the house this time.
I will get the Ford towed if possible to the crash repairers, probably at my expense?

Stilled miffed why fingerprints were not taken on the vehicle.
A it might match known car thiefs.
B it would exonerate my family as suspects.

Second time around I will dictate to the Insurance company.

Hire a brand-new expensive top-of-the-line Commodore for a night.

Park it in your driveway.

Assemble a small group of your mates, arm them each with a blunt object, and conceal them at diverse locations in your front garden.

Wait.

You can improvise from this point.
