James Brown died xmas aged about 73
Known as the godfather of soul he was a funk singer as well
His live shows were unbelievably graphic and he was the forerunner
to live entertainment.
His video clip of Please Please Please was a classic where he collapses
on stage several times, a premeditated act.
2 of his best hits are I FEEL GOOD and ITS A MANS WORLD.[later a cover hit for Renee Geyer]

Brown was a civil rights campaigner who was used on TV to calm down black
oppression when the visionary Martin Luther King was assasinated.

Brown had stints in jail
Been up for assault
Into drugs + alcohol[bad bad influence on all singers and band members ! ]

Personally I love his music, funky without being groovy man.
His hairstyles were unreal.

Brown just before dying was talking about his show on the 2006 new years eve.

R.I.P Jimmy boy

Was lucky enough to see him and his band at Thebby but that was circa 18 or so years ago.

"WAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH GOOD LORD!!!!!!!!"

'Free James Brown'
Free from the mortal coil anyways...
He had a good innings, despite a lifetime of hard living!
Incarceration must've given him a few more years. (Drying out & such!)

And Rocky IV.

Another link to the the era of black soul music that really set the ball rolling for African American artists is now gone.

I am a little bit late, but also would like to pay my respects to James Brown.
I'll remember him for songs like "Sex Machine" and "'Aint it Funky".
This may sound a little bit weird, but on Christmas Day I listened to some James Brown music for the first time in about two years, strange coincidence...
R.I.P James Brown.

RIP James Brown.

I shed a tear when I heard about the loss of this great man.
One of my all time heros. He bridged the world between blues and pop, being at the forefront of new sounds.
His music introduced me to a wider world - one which I'm still revelling in.
I thank him for my wandering music eye, and my ever open listening ear.

I Feel Good was one of my wedding songs.

Say it loud...I'm black and I'm proud!

PS: He made a cameo (by virtue of being on a tv screen) on The Commitments, which was integral to the story.

Because the thread seems to be reviewing his life. He was of dubious character.
