Hervey Bay

Just returned into this stiffling 39 degree heat after spending a week at one of the most spectacular places I have ever visited,Hervey Bay,on the Sunshine Coast about 300km's north of Brisbane.

For those who have been and have visited Fraser Island and surrounds, they too will agree how family friendly these water ways are,the weather perfect (23-27 each day,but a little humid),perfect swimming/drinking weather.Crisp freshly fried Poms all around the place, red as a new Kookaburra.Backpackers (mmmm, backpackers) from ear to grinning, happy ear.Crystal clear water, little drop off from the beaches, allowing for the kids to swim safely,no sharks (well,by all accounts the "ocean" side of Fraser contains numerous Tiger Sharks, but Hervey Bay has never had a shark attack.)fishing is superb,a bit windy this week but got some nice Garfish and a few sandy Whiting.

All in all,Mrs.Boon and the two junior Boons are looking forward to our next holiday, well knowing Hervey Bay will be the destination.

Got the chance? Go.

We were there about 4 years ago, while it was nice and we had a good time there (except for the dingy cabin in the caravan park), it only got better the further North we went, MacKay, Proserpine and surrounding areas were sensational.
BTW, is Hervey Bay cosidered part of the Sunshine Coast, I thought the Sunshine coast finished further south?

Went there as a kid and remember it was a good spot, was up at Caloundra in August and the Sunshine Coast is god's country (mind you its Heaven's waiting room also)....Will be going again to the Sunshine Coast again shortly so will make a point of going up to Hervey Bay...maybe for a couple of nights
