Dasher's signature got me thinking- why do people have "Baby On Board" signs?
Does this make other drivers mindful of -
only crashing into that car as a last resort
turning your engine off whilst trying to pass, so as not to wake the baby
forming a guard of honour for the car
turning our music down whilst passing
excusing any idiotic behaviour that eminates from that vehicle, as they have displayed the "BOB" sign as a disclaimer
the increased (self)importance of the people in the car
perhaps the baby is driving

Buggered if I know, interested in other's thoughts on this strange phenomonen...

Ive always thought the same about the road signs in the country that say "No lines marked - please only overtake when safe".
Does that mean when lines are marked you can overtake when its dangerous??

Maybe the Baby on Board sign just means they're fans of the Bee Sharps?

I always think of it as "Baby, I'm bored." I think the sign is actually a magical talisman or spell that makes people be more careful around the "protected" vehicle.

Ever since the 1970s people of lower then average IQ have been out-breeding those above average - that probably explains the reliance on this form of magic, along with other forms of magical belief like Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Herbalism, Chiropractic and Osteopathy.

It's obvious .... when you are choosing a car to run in to the back of, if you see the Baby on Board sign the morally correct thing to do is look for another car. I always do. I prefer to crash in to the back of P-Platers personally - they need to learn about the realities of life at some stage.

LOL great thread. Mrs ZZ stuck one of these on the family truckster recently and I refused to get in until the offending item was removed.

BTW who can tell me what Jetpilot is?? All these short-dick guys with V8s, utes and baseball caps with their Jetpilot stickers. I don't get it.

I believe Jetpilot is some sort of wakeboarding brand..

ive heard that alot of car theives claim (key word here is claim) that they wont break into cars with baby seats or the like.

In all seriousness (as I am about to have my first baby in 2 weeks) - I think the sign is designed to ward off impatient horn/tail-gating action behind someone driving absurdly carefully because they have a "baby on board". Despite the fact that driving too far below the speed limit causes more accidents IMO.

Followed a car yesterday with a "serious" sticker Blind Dog on Board. WTF ?? Didn't see who was driving unfortunately

Spot on, thats the exact reason for it.

I never can get enough of people with 'Bugga' stickers on their car. Ohhh my sides!

Anyone who is driving "absurdly carefully" is putting their baby at risk and should immediately hand their child in as they're not fit parents.
Same for anyone who has a Baby on Board sign.
If "anyone" does both they should be castrated.
