MCDONALDS different prices at different outlets

Postby bayman » Thu Apr 26, 2007 10:40 pm

i do not understand why (in this case mcdonalds) has differing prices at different outlets for example i can get hash browns for $1.00,$1.05,$1.10 & at v.rugolos' old maccas $1.30 as for big macs they vary around the place as do some other items they have on the menu

i would've thought that places with the same name & selling the identical items would have their prices uniform
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

This reminds me of the hot day Coke phenomenae that occurred in Australia about 7 or 8 years ago. Do they still do this? I am talking about how Coke jacked up their prices on any day that was above 30 degrees C.

Local pricing - the price has nothing to do with the cost of production and wages etc. and all to do with what the local market will accept. Petrol pricing is similar - always dearer in the eastern suburbs.

The same principle applies to tickets for AFL games - different prices at different grounds. It peeves me right off.

Surely franchised outlets would generally run with uniform pricing though?

You would think that the pricing would be uniform given that for the most part, McDonalds don't have stores in the more affluent suburbs.

Off topic a bit but I remember at one particular outlet in my younger days, you didn't even bother asking for a thickshake becuase the machine that made them was always on the blink.

all supermarket chains have different pricing for the same products in different areas. low income areas the products are cheaper and the same products dearer in high income areas.

The majority of supermarket price differences in a metro area is due to meeting competitiors on identicle or like items. A metro area will have the same pricing structure.
I can proudly say that my closest two McDonalds are the two most expensive in Australia

2. Karratha, WA
