Question re Heated Pool

Postby Lunchcutter » Thu May 24, 2007 3:44 pm

Hi All. My DH and myself are thinking of purchasing a house that has a concrete inground gas heated indoor swimming pool (with one of those bubble cover things)... does anyone here have experience with a gas heated pool.... is it expensive to run?? do you run the heater 24/7 in the winter or just put it on half a day or so before you need it? any responses are appreciated.. thanks fellas! [/list]

Cant answer your question
BUT
I would get the pool salted and not chlorinated it MIGHT be safer.

Purely from a health point of view
salt is considered safe
chlorine has too many detractors and considered iffy

That advice heeds from a leading Naturopath.

Hi Lunchcutter. The gas heating will cost a fortune. What area do you live? Gas heating is good for winter but the cost is excessive.

A search of Google returns this -- http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q ... DcountryAU

I would try ringing the first on the list,gaspoolheating.com.au, and explain your circumstance.I see they are located in NSW but you would think they could give you a clue or point you to someone who can, especially if you could tell them pool capacity and model of heater.
Cost would also depend on how you plan to use the pool.It would obviously be cheaper to use the heater to just take the edge off rather than get it up to a "heated pool" temperature.
Pools also have a relatively large thermal mass, our unheated outdoor pool once the sun has warmed it,will remain warm for days even if the weather cools down, meaning your pool will also retain its heat and not go cold the instant you turn the burner off.A pool blanket will certainly help.
Just my thoughts, good luck with the auction.

I think a pool is an assett to you. You don't have to use the heating thingo.....

A pool is a stress relief to sit by and have a few reds with the person you love.

A pool is fabulous to sleep by with you soulmate.

I have built a love shack by my pool.

To sleep in with Mrs_dog_ger. A queen bed and a 5 mitre remote roller door that raises to overlook a sea setting.... Romantic....

Color TV, Video and Dvd player to romance her....

Don't look back, get it...

Your only here once...

To hear and watch the pitter patter of rain drops on water in winter and be warmed by your partner..........

50 & inlove.....!
