Can you please shed any light on this message, which popped up when I first tried logging in? I tried a few times and then gave up and logged in successfully later.

General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

User wedgieo_wedgie has already more than 'max_user_connections' active connections [1203]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.

Diss will be able to answer it (I hope) but I think it occurs when the maximum amount of people using the forum is exceeded.
We had to "throttle" it a couple of weeks back about the same time we changed the software over so our webspace providers wouldn't kick us off their server.

What is the maximum allowed to log in at any one time under the new regime? (ie could the current record of 74(?) be locked in for a long time!).

I don't think its so much a matter of the maximum amount of people but the amount of calls being made to the database/server at any one time. Hopefully Diss will be able to explain it better, we might even be able to turn the throttle off as the new software seems to put a loss less stress on the server than the old software did.

That explains why I found it a bit slow here earlier and popped over to a forum in Sheffield [Yorkshire] where I am hunting up relatives, exchanged a few niceties, logged off and came back to find the page still hadn't loaded, clicked it again and got in. I thought I'd got stuck in a time vortex!

Just spent the last 30 minutes trying to post a PM - tried to reply and tried to send a new one and got the above message.

It all worked fine for me before that, change it back!

I just created a user called testuser and logged in ... and sent Wedgie a PM and it worked.

Are you all sure it's not working?
