Surprised nobody has mentioned anything yet, so apologies if I've had a senior moment and missed a thread somewhere
Just want to say that I like the additions to the Index Page. Great to have the links back...don't the Eagles have a forum too

and I definitely like having the see-at-a-glance league table and results. Well done guys. Must admit it was fun refreshing the page yesterday to watch Wedgie??? experimenting with placement of the new stuff
Regards
JAS

Thanks guys, yeah the Eagles don't currently have a forum but Diss is working on a new one for them.
Diss is the brains behind the new look, Ive just filled in the gaps (and badly at times as witnessed by JAS last night - I had my daughter in stitches when she saw what I'd done at one stage).
We're always looking to improve the site, I can take credit for the fixing of the PMs which noone should have probs with now.
We're going to be adding a lot of other features to the homepage and haven't finished mucking around with the look yet.
Basically hope to make it a one stop shop for all footy fans.

Also if people can think of things they'd like to see on the home page, let us know as we might be able to fit them in.

Reckon it looks great. Very good exposure for the sponsors without overwhelming the site with ads.
Great new look and the Ladder etc. that has been added is a great feature. Well done.

Agree with ALL comments...
Love the site, as a stay at home dad, it keeps me in touch with the footy talk.
After leaving my job after 16 years to change roles with the missus, makes it
easy to get a touch of the footy banter !

I don't know if anyone noticed but on the frontpage I had to reduce the space that the forum list took up (width wise). So I took out the list of moderators from there (as it's on the individual forum page itself) and took out the column of "last post" which is now underneath - where the MODS once were. I hope it's still easy enough to read as it made it a LOT easier to fit everything on the front page (yes, I really wanted two columns!)
I hope to streamline the process sooner rather than later. At the moment the content is quite static, meaning we have to update it ourselves... but hopefully having it database driven will make things easier.
As mentioned above, any suggestions are welcome. Some are considered.
Cheers,
D

Diss it seems less and less web developers are abiding by the standard so that those of us blind bats can view in 800 by 600 which is considered the minimum configuration when developing. More and more websites have to be viewed by scrolling across which is considered poor development standards in my line of work. Are you able to fix?

I understand your concern.
I did toy with the idea of changing it more, but it's really hard creating a forum that has two side columns.
I did at one stage make the site fit inside 800px wide, but the middle cell was rediculously small. It was at this point that I decided to make the middle cell (with the forum list) 800 wide, minus the left column meaning you need to scroll for the right. I might have screwed this up though (try checking out the template and script system behind it and you'll see what I mean) so I'll go back and re-check.
I guess looking at it - at least it's only the front page.
I've made scores of sites over the years and I used to always design in 800x600 and let the rest take care of itself. I still do in some respects but with a forum it is hard. Also - when checking stats of visitors, less than .04% of users were using 800x600 and it was a hard decision to make.
The middle cell has an invisible bar along it forcing it to be that wide. If you want, I will take it out and let you see what it's like. If it's ok with you - then I'll leave it that way.
Apologies for the inconvenience - Just trying to improve things!
Cheers,
D

Ok, I have removed the transparent image that forces the width...
From what I can tell, the site should look like this (or close to it) on 800x600

Thats how its looking for me now, so all is good. Better for the sponsors too, ensuring their logo is able to be seen.

Yes that's true - I hadn't thought of that.
What I was trying to do when putting the transparent gif there was to make it easier for 800x600 people, not harder. I figured I was doing the right thing so that the forum itself was bigger.
Regardless, I hope it's all cool now.

Works for me too. FWIW I prefer it this way as I often have more than one window open on the screen and can reduce this one but still see the whole page...just my preference but I'll go with what the majority want on this.

The Opera browser comes with a "Fit to Width" button, but I don't know whether it would do the trick in that situation with the transparent image in place.

What I pleasant surprise when I logged in today Diss. It looks great, first time I've seen the whole page in its entirety. Thanks very much for this.
Cheers,
MK.
