Having very recently ( in the last two weeks ) looked at TAFE courses for Little Miss Boon I can tell you they simply aren't. Cert III in Barbering and Hairdressing - 18 months - $19,000.

You could get some weekend bar work to help pay for the course...

Still get double time as Casual as I understand!

More than I thought tbh. Does make my 35k HECS debt (took me 8 years to pay off) look like money well spent though. Still not out of reach if you can pay by installments, study part time etc. But ill concede thats more than i thought.

Would someone in her shoes typically try and get an apprenticeship instead of paying for fees up front? (not saying thats easy or whatever, just curious)

Yep, traineeship or apprenticeship is what we'll be looking for.

Installments? No, $6,333 at the start of each Semester, please.

i have paid interest once when i forgot to pay it off.

my first impression was how the fk people do that all the time haha

credit card gets auto-paid now and i just use it for the convenience of online purchases, and for the rewards points which probably add up to somewhere between 500 and 1k a year

Same here. Never paid interest on a credit card ever. Leave my money in my offset reducing my interest on home loan, and pay everything on the credit card. Pay it off on the last day. Boom.

Only a couple days after penalty Rates on Sundays are slashed, the headlines along the lines of 'its Sunday morning in Adelaide and there's no where to shop till 11am'

Yep, we didn't see that coming.
