Happy Friday.

I can cheer you up. I rolled in late after lawn bowls last night, boss had a bacon and egg sandwich on my desk and tells me he's going around 10:30 and won't be back.

I can also cheer you up. I just got up after a fair few froffs last night. Heading into town for “brunch” and then going to wander down to Adelaide Oval and watch some cricket with some beers.

Two things :

1 - I am as agnostic as anyone can be, I think it's the height of hypocrisy for me to "celebrate" Christmas, in what people see as its "true" form in anyway. I can't and I won't.

2 - The ridiculous expectations people put on themselves and in turn others. Every food stuff known to man, we have to have this, we have to have that, we need 4 desserts, we need Xmas napkins, we need tinsel....no we ******* don't.

What we need, at Xmas in my view, is our loved ones in our family and friends around us, an opportunity to put our feet up and enjoy a break from the hectic day to day life we all lead year round. Instead we spend weeks and weeks leading up to it fretting over who is doing this, who is doing that, where am I going to get some ******* napkins with ******* snow men on there....SNOW MEN FFS!!

I get what you're putting down, we're moving into a smaller house yet we were expecting 4 or 5 interstate family members staying with us, now they aren't sure if they are coming so I've said to put a line through it and just tell them a flat no.
Then we'll have a houseful regardless, dilly-dallying around what everyone else is doing and trying to find the one main meal that suits all.
Not that I care too much but they outlay vs return is of a horrendous number, the missus has to buy for everyone and her budget blows out beyond ridiculous proportions but there was one little thing that I asked but I know it wont happen.

When Mrs HH3 asks what I want for Xmas, my reply is "You not spending any money"...

I never get what I want.

We put too much emphasis on the shit that isn't important and too little on the things that are, IMO.

Totally agree on all counts, Mr. Boon.

I told Mrs. C. that I wouldn't mind just the two of us staying home this year, but she knows we'd run the risk of offending people by not being around.

I can't ******* stand Xmas and all the obligations (presents and presence) that go with it.

Kind of agree with all the Christmas sentiment already mentioned.

For me it will be our second Christmas in Melbourne, and the second Christmas where we won't see our Son on Christmas day. That sucks.

I enjoy the food, the grog, and the new socks..... but I'd rather have the whole family together on the day.
