Wood

Postby Dissident » Thu Aug 16, 2007 8:09 am

Hi all,

In my home, the only (permanent) heating is a large combustion heater which is great (even if the highest point of the roof is about 15 foot! *sigh*)

Anyway, I usually head down to POSSUMS Wood Yard (Pooraka, off Research Road) but they have resently sold out and in turn, closed for good.

Can anyone suggest any wood yards around? I'm a few minutes from Tea Tree Plaza so anything within 20 minutes, maybe half an hour max would be swell.

Cheers.

D

Garden Grove is reasonable in the price category and not far from you. 6x4 Trailer full usually costs me about $70-$80, lasts a couple of months or so.

See if anyone in your family knows a farmer as they always have areas they want cleared that have fallen trees in them - head up with a chainsaw and run amok!

Drive up the road and your're in the country in 5 mins you lazy sod! :D

Seriously though, I don't know if the price is any better closer to the sticks up there but we had to fork out over $200 for a ton this year.
Last year we went through 2 ton but we've managed to keep this year's use to 1 ton.
We haven't needed the fire on for about 3 weeks though.

Cheers guys.
Yup, Garden Grove is just up the road - was planning to head up there anyway on Saturday for some sleepers.

Wedgie - Yes I do have SOME like that but it's illegal :/
And I've been looked at before when doing it!

Plus, it's a lot of work - the fire burns QUICK :(

I think it's about $150 a tonne at Possums but now it's gone.
