The British Open has started today at Royal St Georges. Fantastic British summers day with cold and windy conditions with intermitant showers.
Thomas Bjorn is the early leader, back in the clubhouse at -5.
Only a handfull of players at par or below in the tough conditions.
Ogilvy and Baddely struggling at +4 mid round. Scott and Day still about an hour from starting

Day finished the day at +1 and Scott at -1.
Both would be looking at big second rounds with the form they have been in leading up to the Open.
One of my favourites Dustin Johnson was +4 after 12 and then went Birdie, Birdie, Ace, Birdie, Bogey to finish at even par.

Jason Day has done very well to scramble to +1 there. I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope of him winning, but it will be a great learning curve for him.

Thomas Bjorn, while early days, is in a good position here. Won the Qatar Masters in a hot field earlier this year and will relish the windy conditions.

Day 3 will be a shocker. Driving rain and gale force wind, be lucky if anyone breaks 70

Disastrous open for the Aussies. Day and Allenby had shockers today.
Currently only 5 players under par for tournament.
Early on final day but looks like a race between Clarke and Johnson although Mickelson is finishing strong

As has been mentioned in media, you can imagine this would be a popular win in Europe and amongst his European Tour counterparts.

If a non American wins the USPGA next month, I'd imagine this will be the first year for a while that an American didn't win a major in a calendar year.

You gotta love the honesty of the Irish, (Mc)Clarke basically said that he will be pissed till the middle of the week, then when he remembers he will start hitting golf balls again. So refreshing to not have to hear the dribble that the Yanks spit out when they do something. Here's hoping 1 of us Aussies can get in on the act soon, Day best chance I would say. Heard him after the 3rd round when he said, it was the toughest conditions he has ever played in. Who could question that, looked very ordinary.

Cleaned up on Clarke last year.

this year my stable is

Jacobson 110/1
Dyson 180/1
Grace 210/1

outsiders are always a chance at the open.
