Nearly a great comeback but may well have lost in overtime anyway.

Horrible 4th quarter by Petrie. Botched the uncontested go-ahead layup.

Randle is easily the team's best player, awesome to watch.

There was a bit of an incident in tonight's Townsville vs Perth game which the Crocs won 89-77. Damian Martin had to leave the game and go to hospital with a suspected broken jaw, losing a few teeth and concussion after taking an elbow from Brian Conklin. It doesn't look good. Wildcats coach Trevor Gleeson has already threatened to fire up Nathan Jawai for the return bout this Friday in Perth.

That was an awesome pass by Randle. The rebound and dish in one motion to Walker for the dunk.

The worst 3 point shooting I have ever seen in a quarter then Ebie steps up with the big 3 with 4 seconds left to cover the 1-10 spread. Turned a disaster into a dissappointment

Agreed. The passage in the last where we had 3 shots (2 shots resulting from rebounds) and missed them all, consigned us to defeat.

I think we missed 8 x 3 attempts in a row. Worked so hard for 3 quarters and threw it away

Randle was 0/9 on 3pts and Gibbo needed to step up but didn't. Really the end for us was that brief stretch when Webster hit three 3's in a row.

NBL game on Channel 9 this weekend:

Sunday afternoon: NZ Breakers @ Melbourne at 2:30pm (Gem)

Next up for the 36ers taking on the Kings at home at 7pm on Saturday. The Kings did put up a good fight against Melb Utd tonight.

Also the NBL have charged Brian Conklin with striking and a ruling is expected before tomorrow's Wildcats/Crocs rematch in Perth.

The Wildcats released a statement of their own earlier on Thursday, confirming the extent of their skipper's injury.

"Martin's jaw is broken in two at the chin, with three teeth coming loose at the break-point," the Wildcats said.

"The 31-year-old will undergo surgery upon his return to Perth in an attempt to save his teeth. Plates will be required to stabilise the jaw."

The Wildcats are hopeful their point guard can return to the court within six to eight weeks.

Gleeson slammed Conklin over the incident in his post-match press conference.

"That's one of the dirtiest plays I've ever seen, Conklin just dropped his elbow right on his jaw and he (Martin) is going to hospital for a suspected fractured jaw and has lost a couple of teeth," he said.

"It's a dirty play without a question."

Perth players were left infuriated when they believed they saw Townsville players laughing after the incident.

"That's bulls**t to see your leader out there on the floor like that and then guys laughing afterwards as well," added Perth forward Greg Hire. "That's c**p."

Townsville coach Shawn Dennis turned the tables on his opposition coach though, defending Conklin and lighting the fuse for an explosive rematch.

"We don't play dirty, that's pretty ironic coming from him," he said.

"They've got a few guys on their team that throw a lot of elbows so perhaps he needs to look at his own backyard."

Trevor Gleeson has already threatened to unleash Jawai on Conklin but I doubt he will be allowed to play.
