I'm shocked I thought Perth would win this one comfortably. Only half time but still an excellent game so far from the 36ers.

Adelaide navigating a crowded key very well and isolating the wide runners effectively. Shutting down Perth's space is critical in the second half, as a few of their guns down early and would be expected to regroup hard.

Good win to the sixers. Glad to see the crocs win and the tigers lose. I enjoyed the afternoon basketball game.
Interesting to note that only the Wollongong Hawks are the only club left from the first season.

Good to be able to watch the 6ers on a sunday arvo. Winder looked really impressive in the 3rd quarter, bought plenty of energy on court. Lets hope he can avoid foul trouble early and replicate that form over a longer period.

Excellent win by the Sixers. I was surprised by the Sixers intensity especially on the defensive end. I and most others had the 36ers finishing 8th this season (2nd to bottom) and most have the Wildcats going back-to-back especially after winning the preseason comp but if the Sixers can play like that over the course of the season they'll be a real chance to make the playoffs.

The 36ers were very impressive, the only negatives, they seemed to miss more than their fare share from outside the 3 point line and went to sleep early in the 3rd 1/4. Offensively they were great in tight traffic and their defence was tight as a fishes a********

In the 1st game the Lightning were also very impressive in what was a very tight game for 3 1/2 quarters before they blew the Wave away in the last 5 minutes

The 3 point lines have been extended to the same as the NBA this season, so expect successful 3 point attempts to be well down early on in the season. We missed a few but Perth were dreadful outside the arc in the first half.

Why they've done it no one knows - this seasons rules seem to be a mash of NBA (such as the key and 3 point line) and international rules (such as possession arrow and 10 minute quarters)

Not a good start to my NBL tipping comp - two

(Mind you, I really wasn't sure what to expect from the Kings first up, so both of those results didn't help, in opposite directions, and no, didn't have the faith in Adelaide either)

South Australian and Gold Coast recruit Pero Vasiljevic has gone down with an ankle injury at training ruling him out until at least January and possibly for the rest of the season. Also:

Over the weekend, the NBL made an outstanding return to free-to-air television on
ONE, achieving a ten-fold increase for the season-opening Melbourne v Sydney
game on Friday night compared to the previous season opener.

The game saw the return of the Sydney Kings to the NBL after two years out of the competition and their win over the Tigers was watched by an average audience of 56,000 and a peak of 130,000.

Sunday saw the Adelaide 36ers host last season’s champions, the Perth Wildcats.
The 36ers win was watched by an average audience of 73,000 and a peak of 172,000.

Network Ten’s general manager sport, David White said: “This is an excellent result
for the first round and reflects the work that went into launching the season by all
involved. These early ratings are extremely encouraging and we look forward to
playing a part in the continued growth of this exciting sport.”
