The NBA is the only pro league that does it. Think about it. 99% of the world plays 10 min quarters it was stupid to copy them in the first place.

What I mean is, decide whether you want 10 or 12 minute quarters on merit, not based on what other countries do. I couldn't give a toss what FIBA or the other countries do.

Okay I mean TV prefers 10 min quarters and I'm sure it would make things easier negotiating contracts with agents of imports used to getting paid x amount per 40 min game in Europe or NCAA players although not getting paid in that instance.

Despite the late comeback by the Hawks tonight Melb Utd held on for the 97-96 win to return to the top of the ladder.

The Sydney Kings have signed local big man Jordan Vandenberg as an injury replacement for Julian Khazzouh. Vandenberg a 7'1" centre played his college ball at NC State was signed by the New York Knicks in the NBA waived soon after playing for their D-League team and just played for Bendigo in the SEABL league. The Kings have also signed 6'4" guard Indiana Faithfull as a replacement for Steve Markovic he played college basketball at Wofford and West Liberty and was initially a train-on player this season with the Kings now getting the opportunity to play.

Also the Illawarra Hawks have taken out both of the NBL's monthly player & coach awards with Kevin Lisch the player of the month for December and Rob Beveridge the coach of the month.

Great win, great hussle, great passion.

When DJ fires we don't lose. I guess that's why he is so frustrating.

With Illawarra playing Breakers in a double header our finals window may be just about to open. We just need to bust through it.

The NBL have made the weekly Fox produced highlights show 'NBL Blitz' available to watch on their website.

Also good to hear the 36ers are actively trying to re-sign Jerome Randle for next season.

“We are doing everything possible to retain Jerome,” Sixers general manager Guy Hedderwick said.

“I spoke with his agent over the weekend and we want him.

“He’s indicated he wants to stay, that he’s enjoying his basketball again, he’s happy here and his wife is happy here.

“It’s not always about the money.”
