Looks like the 36ers have now completed their roster too with the signing of back up centre Wade Helliwell who was released by the Tigers after last season. Not much of a player but in all fairness probably as good as a back up big man the team could probably find.

So who are our imports for the upcoming season? From memory one was signed about 2 weeks ago, who's the other one?

Chris Warren a 5'10" PG fresh out of college from Ole Miss and John Williamson a 6'6" PF who had been playing in Finland.

He did win a World Championship with the Boomers though

Overnight the Boomers went down to France in a narrow defeat against a team loaded with NBA players at the tournament in London:

France 71 (Parker 27, Batum 16, Diaw 10) def Australia 67 (Mills 20, Newley 11)

In NBL news the Wollongong Hawks have signed their second import Donavan Monroe straight out of college at Charleston which completes the Hawks roster for this season.

In pre-season results the Cairns Taipans beat the touring University of Texas San Antonio, 84-58.

The Boomers have finished the tournament in London with a close win in overtime against hosts Great Britain.

Australia 91 (Newley 23, Ingles 16, Gibson 13, Maric 10) def Great Britain 90 (OT) (Deng 26, Freeland 22)

The Boomers now head to Spain for a two game series against their national team, if they suit up anything even approaching a full strength side we'll be in a world of trouble.

In NBL pre-season results the Sydney Kings have beaten the touring Drake University 95-62.

NBL pre-season results in Toowoomba last night the Tigers beat the Blaze 84-73 and the Taipans are currently on a tour of China and last night defeated the Chinese league champs Xinjiang Guanghui 79-66.

The Sydney Kings have completed their roster with the signing of Martin Iti who had been playing in the New Zealand league.

Overnight the Taipans defeated the Kentucky Bisons in China 88-63, a team featuring NBA stars Paul Pierce & Michael Beasley too.

It's been announced that the 36ers will play two pre-season games against the Wollongong Hawks in Tasmania next month.

Sept 3rd in Ulverstone and Sept 4th in Devonport.

Confirmed, big day for the NBL with Patty Mills signing with the Tigers but will return to the NBA when the lockout ends.
