For the NBL fans out there, jump on board this year's competition. It's a very similar concept to AFL Dream Team, with a squad of 10 to be chosen.

Personally I'm not into the Fantasy Team stuff in any sports but a number of people on Oz Hoops have also started teams & leagues:

It's good fun as a rule - the cap is a realistic amount, as are the player values. Been hard fitting ten players into $1 million.

I have completely lost track of the NBL but saw this DT and created a team. I had to cheat off that Hoops web-site to get a starting team as the names are unfortunately meaningless to me. I'll hope my starting team is half decent and then rely on tracking the scores/stats from there and trading my way to glory!

This is my current team:

Forwards - Knight, Loughton, Wilkinson, Grizzard
Centres - Allen, Neville
Guards - Ervin, Winder, Abercrombie, Weigh

Think we will be in the same boat there Hondo ;)

I don't know much about this stuff but that's a really good team. Three of those imports Wilkinson & Ervin have been impressive during the preseason games and Winder has had his moments for the Sixers too.

Hondo,

Similar to Super Coach only you have byes and teams pay play more than once in the same round hence players may get the chance to duplicate or even triplicate their scores.
A reliable gun captain is just as important.

Yeah, I am going to have my L plates on

I read about the multiple games in one round - wasn't aware of the byes.

Also, I see I have 30 trades for 25 rounds which is more than SuperCoach/AFL DT

OK - question for the gurus

In my forwards I have Grizzard from Sydney on my bench and 2 $116K players on the field

The bench players get only 1/2 of their points added to my week score.

With Sydney playing twice this weekend I assume I am better off having Grizzard on the field to get the 2 games' scores rather than have these scores halved? The other players would have to score double Grizzard's average for the 2 games to justify leaving Grizzard on the bench.

Is my thinking right?

Brod, league games don't start until round 4 so you can still get your team sorted next week and not be disadvantaged from the league competition perspective

Scratch that last post Brod ..... :(

Despite a note on one of the pages saying league games start round 4 they seem to have started round 1. There was no head to head over the weekend but now they have filled up the league and done league games.

Anyway, I didn't look into who had byes and when and so I have 3 Sydney Kings players and this round they have the bye! With 30 trades for 25 rounds and only 10 players (compared to 30 players, 22 rounds and 20 trades in AFL SuperCoach) I feel like I can trade out 2 of them with the plan to bring 1 back the week after (bring back Kazzough, leave Grizzard altogether). If I had researched better I wouldn't have started Grizzard along with the other 2 Kings. Oh well. Any opinions on this are welcome!

Great work so far by Hondo, whose team sits 184th Australia-wide :)
