Entertaining series.

Will this Melbourne team still exist in 3-4 years time? Or will they fold like every other Melbourne side that had success..

At the end of the day we had no one “light up” at any stage. They did.

Without Childress we really needed at least one of Sobey or Deng to fire and unfortunately both didn't tonight.

Even though it was a disappointing end I think we showed real heart to win Game 4 after the Childress injury and think Joey did a great job maxing out the talent of this group.

I don't think we will bring Shorter back. DJ is a free agent and there has been talk during the season that he would be going back home to Perth to finally play for the Wildcats, it would make sense now too with Matty Knight retired and them desperate for a big man. Supposedly DJ came very close to going back home last time he was a FA but the 36ers increased their offer at the 11th hour. Mitch Creek too there was talk last offseason that he would come back for one more season (this season) and then next season try and get into the NBA or possibly go and play in Europe.

I believe the status of the roster is:

Free agents: Childress, Shorter, Moore, Johnson, Drmic , Teys

Player options: Creek, Deng

Under contract: Sobey, Hodgson, Doyle

Had a chance when it was back to 6 points but were not good enough to roll on with it. The end of the day we had a huge chance to get up in Melbourne in game 3 but didn’t have the composure in final moments.

More bad news for the Cairns Taipans with Mitch McCarron announcing he won't be returning to the team instead to play in Europe next season. McCarron is currently finishing the season in Slovenia.
