Two good comfortable wins for the Boomers.

Australia 88 (Creek 18, McCarron 11, Hodgson 10) def Chinese Taipei 68 (Chen 22, Davis 18, Hu 15)

Also New Zealand beat China in China 82-73. For the Tall Blacks the Webster brothers Corey & Tai each scored 18 points and for China former NBA power forward Yi Jianlian scored 37 points.

The NZ Breakers have announced the club has new owners and the consortium includes former NBA star Shawn Marion!

A consortium including two former NBA players and a co-owner of English Premier League club Swansea City will become the new majority shareholders in the Breakers, New Zealand's successful basketball franchise.

Long time club owners and directors Paul and Liz Blackwell announced on Monday that a newly formed company, Breakers Basketball Ltd, will take control of the club from March 1, on the eve of the club's eight appearance in 11 years in the NBL semifinals.

The consortium is headed by former NBA player Matt Walsh, along with business partners Adam Goodman, Romie Chaudhari, Dan Katz and Shawn Marion.

An interesting idea from the NBL to lure 'one "& done' players from the US with an added roster spot for a fourth import.

The 'Next Stars' initiative was announced by the NBL on Friday, and will see NBA Draft eligible athletes — hand-picked by an NBL-selected panel of ‘experts’ — contracted by the league, before being entered into a pool, and allocated to teams. The allocation process is yet to be determined.

Each NBL team will be given a fourth import spot, where they could insert the young player.

The players who are brought over will be paid $AUD100,000, which ends up as $US50,000 net, sources told foxsports.com.au. The teenagers will also be given an apartment, a car, flights, and individual development training, sources said.

A great read and it made me go back and watch some clips of Rick Barry and the "granny shot".

There was talk coming all season it was going to happen and now it's official the Cairns Taipans have sacked head coach Aaron Fearne. He was their head coach for nine years, eight years as an assistant coach at the club before that and even two years as a player there prior to that. Fearne took the Taipans to two Grand Final's in 2011 & 2015 and also won the NBL coach of the year award in 2015.

A bit too stubborn and inflexible for my liking but got more than most out of his rosters.

Prather just kicked his opponent, commentators even after the slo-mo replay chose to gloss over it.
