Tues 3rd Oct 11:30am- Sydney Kings at Utah Jazz

Mon 9th Oct 5:30am - Melbourne United at Oklahoma City Thunder

Sat 14th Oct 12:30pm - Brisbane Bullets at Phoenix Suns

As expected the Utah Jazz beat the Sydney Kings today in what was just the second ever game between NBA & NBL teams but the first in the US.

Utah 108 (Hood 18, Gobert 15, Exum 11, Mitchell 11, Sefolosha 10) def Sydney 84 (Ellis 19, Cadee 14, Lisch 13, Newley 11)

They don't play OKC until Monday but their schedule early on is a bit crook, they start the season here against the 36ers tomorrow night, then go to the US to play OKC on Monday and then come back to Australia to play the 36ers in Adelaide again!

Some signing news the Cairns Taipans have signed import Jerry Evans Jr a 6'8" forward as a temporary injury replacement for import Michael Carrera who has just had knee surgery and will be out for 4-6 weeks. Evans plays for Sandringham in the SEABL and only just played a couple of early pre-season games for Melbourne United as a fill in player.

Unconfirmed but there is talk that the 36ers have axed new import big Ronald Roberts. Nothing has been announced by the Sixers or the NBL. Roberts had already been ruled out of tomorrow night's season opener due to a knee injury he suffered early in the Merlion Cup in Singapore which put him out of the the last two games of the tournament. Probably unlikely he would get up in time for the next game on Saturday evening in Sydney too you would think.

The NBL have surpassed last season with this now being the best broadcast package in the league's history.

- Every single game live on Fox Sports & NBL TV

- Two games each weekend live on SBS

- One game every Friday night on the ABC at 11pm

- A new pre-game show on Fox Saturday evenings

All 112 games and finals will be broadcast live on FOX SPORTS 503 with the NBL to also launch a new pre-game show at 5pm on Saturdays during the season.

Free to air TV coverage will triple this season with two games a week shown live on SBS Viceland at 5.30pm on Saturday and SBS at 3pm on Sunday. The ABC will also broadcast Friday night games at 11pm during the season.

All games will be streamed on NBL TV once again to mobile, tablet devices as well as desktops. The same $5 per month offer for an All Access Pass continues in addition to free team access.

Great to see John Casey back in the commentary team too!

I think knee injuries have cut short his last two seasons so I'd take his denials with a grain of salt.

The official statement on Roberts:

http://www.nbl.com.au/news/article/3710 ... rs-journey

Also the Brisbane Bullets have announced the signing of young local Will Magnay a 6'10" F/C to a 3 year deal. Magnay will be a development player this season and then on the roster proper from next season and played at Tulsa University last season.

From Boti Nagy

“I was sitting at press table next to bench in Singapore when RR ask to come out cos he'd twinged his knee. Missed 2 gms, didn't train. 100%?”
