Talk that Melbourne have possibly another star import PG lined up as his replacement.

The Sydney Kings have announced the signing of past player and former United forward Craig Moller to a 2 year deal who is currently playing for the Tasmanian based Southern Huskies in the NZ league during the off-season.

Basketball Australia have also signed former Canberra Cannons player and college coach David Patrick as an assistant coach for the Boomers 2019 World Cup & 2020 Olympic Games campaigns. Patrick the godfather of Aussie NBA star Ben Simmons most recently coached UC Riverside in the NCAA.

The South-East Melbourne Phoenix have signed former Kings forward Dane Pineau to a 1 year deal with options for a further two years. Pineau is currently playing for the Melbourne Tigers in the NBL1 league during the off-season.

Big signing now confirmed Melbourne United have signed former Taipans star import Melo Trimble to a 1 year deal. Trimble is currently playing in Puerto Rico during the off-season.

Also the South-East Melbourne Phoenix have signed former Kings guard Kyle Adnam to a 2 year deal.

And finally the Sydney Kings have signed former 36ers fill in guard Shaun Bruce to a 1 year deal. Bruce is currently playing in the QBL during the off-season.

Both Trimble and Bruce were linked to Adelaide. They going to sign anyone?

The South-East Melbourne Phoenix have announced the signing of Kendall Stephens a 6'7" SF who most recently played in Spain. He is the son for former NBL Newcastle & Geelong import Everette Stephens who despite spending most of his life in the US was born here making him an Australian citizen and able to play as a local.

Not everyone born in Aus becomes a citizen, Whilst it can change at times, generally either parent must be a citizen or a permanent resident. Perhaps is mother is.

If he was born in Australia prior to 20 August 1986 then he is a citizen by birth.

The NBL have always been a bit flexible with this stuff when it ensures talent coming into the league. I remember one 'local' player Perth signed a few years back Drake U'u he was born in the US and had spent his entire life up to that point there but his mother was born here so the NBL let that go through.

The Tai Wesley situation being US born of Guamanian heritage was even worse with the NBL up until now allowing him to play as a local because Guam is in the Oceania region.

The article says Stephens is an Australian citizen but regardless he's playing as a local not an import.

He was probably an Australian citizen anyway if his mother was born here.

The Illawarra Hawks have announced the signing of 7'0" centre Sam Froling to a 3 year deal. The younger brother of Harry left Creighton University in the NCAA after one year and is currently playing for Dandenong in the NBL1 during the off-season.

Some signings and a bit of news today, the NZ Breakers have signed former Taipans F/C Rob Loe to a 1 year deal.

Also the the NBL in partnership with the Victorian Government are sending the South-East Melbourne Phoenix to China to play their first games later this month when they play exhibition games against the Jiangsu Dragons in Nanjing on May 29 and the Shanghai Sharks in Shanghai on May 31.

In a noteworthy announcement for the sport the NBL and Basketball Australia have signed an agreement that will see the NBL become the commercial rights partner for the sport to market, promote and licence the rights and assets controlled by BA including the Boomers and Opals along with the WNBL, Centre of Excellence and junior development programs. The NBL continues it's upwards trajectory.

Also Melbourne United have announced Craig 'Hutchy' Hutchison has been named Chairman of the club's board. Hutchy is the CEO of Crocmedia, the media group acquired a 25% stake in United in 2018.
