A disappointing end for Joey Wright's time as Sixers coach but we did make it to two GF's in his 7 years here.

I hope the rumour of Gaze to be his replacement is nothing more than scuttlebutt now that Jeff Van Groningen is the GM.

Randle was always a terrible pick up, good highlights but terrible defender
Moore is done as a player but a typical Joey Wright import - older guy who defends and is just a role player
Griffin showed glimpses but way too inconsistent and foul prone
None of these should be back next year, DJ another MVP without playing D and most other players have gone backwards in their development.
Joey Wright was a good coach but hasn't adapted to the modern game, blokes who can shoot 3's and perimeter defense doesn't happen in his system.

No way Perth spent less on their roster than we did. Perth have always been one of the highest spending teams with Jack Bendat as their old benefactor they have to to get players to move over there Cotton & Kay are on big money. Sydney, Melbourne & Perth would all be comfortably outspending the Sixers.

That leak a month or so ago that the Sixers have the fourth highest roster spend in the league (which was dismissed by Joey as complete BS) was to try and make Joey look bad as the club wanted him to quit but had no intention of paying him out the last two years of his contract. So I wouldn't take that as gospel as it was coming from the owner the same owner who saw fit to give Eric Griffin a $400k contract despite playing for three teams last season and couldn't guard a stobie pole so had to come off of the bench. On top of the Randle signing a week before the season. And the Creek shit.

If you saw the extended Joey interview with John Casey on Channel 7's Facebook page you could see how much he did for this club behind the scenes like in the early days here paying for team meals out of his own pocket, he and the players collecting empty bottles after games to cash in, holding quiz nights etc and although he and the club did need to part ways we're not going to find a better coach than Joey Wright.

No doubt Perth paid players out of the cap, Stephen Rowe said the NBL commissioner showed them the paperwork that Adelaide were the fourth highest spending team so I’m not sure who is not telling the truth

Joey hand picked his imports, he said that. Never heard that the owner picked Griffin

Plays Teys as a starter, no other team would do that. Same with Obi

Joeys gameplan has zero defence, not just this season but seasons gone past.

They big roster turnover each year, who is responsible? Who is the last SA junior to come through the ranks and play for Adelaide?

No doubt Joey has been awesome but 7 years without a champion is giving him enough time.
