Former NBA guard Donald Sloan has agreed to a deal with the Adelaide 36ers to complete their roster for the 2020-21 NBL season, sources have told ESPN.

Sloan, 32, is coming off a stint with Baskets Bonn in the Basketball Bundesliga, and will be the only import on Conner Henry's largely local roster.

Sloan spent five seasons in the NBA, highlighted by a two-year stretch with the Indiana Pacers; the 6'3 guard averaging 7.4 points 2.7 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game over the 2014-15 NBA season.

Undrafted in 2010, the native of Louisiana has played across the world, suiting up in the NBA, NBA G-League, Chinese Basketball Association, and, most recently, the Bundesliga in Germany.

Sloan only played three games in Germany, due to the season being posted because of COVID-19, averaging 11.7 points a contest. The season prior, he posted 25.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.0 assists a game for the Jiangsu Dragons in the CBA.

Sloan is expected to start at the point for the 36ers, and add a veteran presence to a relatively young team. He'll join Isaac Humphries, Josh Giddey, Sunday Dech, and Keanu Pinder as the new additions on Henry's roster.

With the NBL's new 10-man roster limit in effect - a Next Stars player can act as an 11th rostered athlete - the 36ers' roster is now complete: Sloan, Humphries, Daniel Johnson, Giddey, Dech, Pinder, Jack McVeigh, Brendan Teys, Daniel Dillon, Obi Kyei, and Alex Mudronja.

The 36ers are the first NBL team to fill all of its roster spots, with their free agency efforts led by Jeff Van Groningen, the General Manager of Basketball; as well as owner, Grant Kelley.

Sounds like a good signing former NBA vet. The Sixers are keeping an import spot up their sleeve to possibly sign later in the season and still a lot of talk that Obi Kyei wants to be released from his contract to sign with a NSW based NBL team.

Not a great name I would've liked to have seen Devils used again but I read that the AFL have supposedly trademarked it for a future Tassie team.

It beat out the Trident as the final two possible names...the two others on the short list were Pride and Mountaineers...fair to say none of the four are leaping out to me...
