Melbourne United have now signed their second import former Illawarra Hawks guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes to a one-year deal. The Canadian was runner up for the NBL's Best Sixth Man award with the Hawks last season.

Also the Tasmania JackJumpers have signed guard Isaac White as a temporary injury replacement for Clint Steindl who is expected to miss the early part of the season due to an injury he received at the FIBA Asia Cup. White originally from Adelaide has played the past couple of seasons with the Illawarra Hawks.

Three in three days with Melbourne United announcing the signing of their third import Jordan Caroline to a one-year deal. He's a 6'7" SF who played in Italy last season.

The SE Melbourne Phoenix have signed their third import Alan Williams to a one-year deal. He's a 6'8" PF who has previously played in the NBA with Phoenix and Brooklyn and played in Russia last season.

Adelaide sign Craig Randall II who played in the G League and won the Most Improved Award and had back to back 40 point games


Rumours are that Franks has opted out and has headed to Europe

The Illawarra Hawks have signed their second import George King to a one-year deal. He's a 6'6" SF who has previously played in the NBA with Phoenix and Dallas and aside from the brief stint with the Mavs played predominantly in the G-League last season.

The 36ers have announced the signing of South-Sudanese/Australian Deng Acuoth to a one-year deal. He's a 6'11" centre who plays for the South Sudan national team has previously played in the NBL with Sydney and SE Melbourne and played in Georgia last season.

Also the Illawarra Hawks have announced the signing of their third import Justin Robinson to a one-year deal. He's a 6'1" PG who has played in the NBA with Washington, Oklahoma City and played with Milwaukee, Sacramento and Detroit last season.

As well the SE Melbourne Phoenix have signed young local Grant Anticevich to a one-year deal. He's a 6'8" PF who just finished playing his college ball at the University of California, Berkeley.

In an early pre-season game tonight SE Melbourne Phoenix lost to the touring St. Mary's College 86-74 in OT at Frankston. For the Gaels Aidan Mahaney scored 24 points and Mitchell Saxen 20 and for the Phoenix Kyle Adnam scored 12.

Last night St. Mary's beat Melbourne United 88-67 at Keilor. Top scorers for the Gaels were Aussie Alex Ducas with 18 points and Leemet Bockler and Aidan Mahaney both scored 16 and for United Shea Ili scored 18 points.

The Sixers seriously must have won lotto, got coin from Josh Giddey or all that cash from Kai Sotto merchandise has rolled in. IF Franks stays they would be paying a record amount for the club (By a fair way)…..

It looks good at the moment but if Franks doesn't turn up might be a different story.

Sydney Kings Next Star Makur Maker has signed with the Washington Wizards to an Exhibit 10 contract so if he doesn't make the Wizards roster he'll be playing for their G-League team this season.

Robert Franks finally has arrived in Adelaide, had some serious interest from a Russlan team which nearly took him away.

That's a relief the Russian deal fell through.

According to NewsCorp's Matt Logue, Franks had agreed to a deal with Lokomotiv in Russia, but the club withdrew the offer due to an ankle injury sustained during the NBA's Summer League.

Unfortunately former 36ers power forward Cameron Bairstow has announced his retirement. The 31 year old played for the Boomers at the 2016 Olympics and 2014 World Cup, played two years in the NBA with the Chicago Bulls and averaged 11 ppg and 8 rpg with the 36ers last season.

Officially confirmed that the Adelaide 36ers will be playing two pre-season games against NBA teams on Sunday October 2 vs the Phoenix Suns and on Thursday October 6 against Josh Giddey and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 36ers have announced the signings of three new Development Players alongside the already re-signed Nick Marshall in Cameron Thew a 6'10" F/C who has been playing for the Northside Wizards in the NBL1 North, Fiston Ipassou who plays for the Forestville Eagles in the NBL1 Central and Fraser Roxburgh from the Knox Raiders in Victoria.

Also Melbourne United veteran David Barlow has today announced his retirement. He won five NBL Championships during his career two with Sydney (2004, 2005) and three with Melbourne (2008, 2018, 2021) and played for the Boomers at two Olympic Games (2008, 2012) and three WC's (2006, 2010, 2019) and will be staying with United joining their coaching staff.

In a pre-season game last night the touring University of California, Riverside beat the Illawarra Hawks 94-87 at the Snakepit. Top scorers for the Highlanders were former 36ers development player Lachlan Olbrich with 19 points and Flynn Cameron & Zyon Pullin each scored 18 and for the Hawks Tyler Harvey scored 24 points, Justin Robinson had 20 and Sam Froling added 18 points.

The Brisbane Bullets have signed their second and final import Devondrick Walker to a one-year deal. He's a 6'5" SG who has previously played in the NBL before for the SE Melbourne Phoenix, played last season in Latvia and just spent the off-season playing in the NBL1 West.

Also the pre-season games proper begun tonight with Tasmania beating SE Melbourne 88-83 in Ulverstone. Top scorers for the JackJumpers were Rashard Kelly with 20 points and Milton Doyle added 13 points and for the Phoenix Alan Williams scored 15 points and Trey Kell had 14 points.
