Seemed to be a bit of ego about NSW. Kept running at QLD thinking they were bigger and stronger and would eventually beat them into submission with their size. Their best was those few moments they got creative, offloading or swinging the ball out wide but they never persisted. QLD weren't great either. All those magnificent backline players and they hardly got the ball into the hands of Inglis. But they did what they needed to. Taking game 1 means you win about 80% of the time. Taking game 1 on enemy soil it's almost curtains. Daley to be replaced for next year, Gallen retiring and a new generation to try it all over again.

As a neutral watching how bad was the bias for a couple of the commentators especially that Gould fella. Ruined the telecast a little for me.

Was it Gould who was adamant that the non-try by NSW which was obviously held up before the line was a try? I can't remember who it was exactly. Who ever that was needs get their eyes checked or open their other eye.

Yep that was him. Every other commentator was either no try or not sure.

I hate Gould! He's the worst commentator in Rugby League and he's so incredibly bias it's ridiculous!!

Everything is pro-NSW or anti-QLD, I cant stand listening to him

Ahk thanks for the confirmation Heater. His NSW bias shone through more than I've ever noticed last night.

Comments like
"Ah that's a soft penalty (against NSW), what was that for? Really? I mean really!"
"Why are they stopping the game? (When QLD player was down injured) Seriously why? It's SOO, play on, no need to stop the game"
"Qld have had a free ride here"

Yep, woke up on the lounge to some shit about 11:30. Must have been half way through the second half I blitzed out, really average standard game.

Laurie Daley not messing around : :D

NSW coach Laurie Daley has called for referees Gerard Sutton and Ben Cummins to be dumped from officiating State of Origin II after several controversial calls in the interstate series opener.

Several crucial calls went against the Blues in their 6-4 game-one loss on Wednesday night at ANZ Stadium.

As a result, Daley said in his post-match media conference he wanted different referees appointed when the sides met again in three weeks at Suncorp Stadium.

“Put it this way, I will be asking for those two referees to not officiate in Game Two ... there’s your story,”
Daley said.

He was asked what he based his thoughts on.

“Based on history and based on that game. There were plenty of big calls that happened.”

While Daley was clearly fuming, his Queensland counterpart Kevin Walters was in joking mood.

“We can get them back in,” Walters said. “We’ll take a bit out of Cameron’s (Smith’s) salary.

“Being honest we did get some nice calls, some favourable calls — and you need that to win at this level.

“You can’t do it by yourself, you do need a bit of assistance in different areas and have a bit of luck, and that was the case for Queensland tonight, for our boys. There’s the other side of the coin where you make your own luck. They worked really hard, and NSW did too. All of those 50-50 calls went Queensland’s way.”

My god.
NSW got a great decision in the last 10minz that was 10m from the try line with a fresh set of 6 to go....how they didn't score is beyond me

Queensland's defence was just too good and too tough too penetrate, but intsead we'll just blame the referees for losing.

Not sure the complaining is even fair. The reversal of the feed late (if that was even the wrong decision at all) makes up for the horrible decision in exactly the same circumstances not long before. The disallowed try was pretty darn clearly not a try. If you need more evidence than that to overturn a decision we shouldn't even bother going to the video.

Anyone who watches the NRL regularly will see how poor the refs have been this year and unlike Aussie rules 1 or 2 poor decisions definately decide games. Would be atleast a dozen games this year that has been decided by terrible calls

A good start by the Maroons who have found some great field position early sees them get the first points of the game, a penalty scored by Thurston.
