Australian Tennis Season INCLUDING Australian Open

Always enjoy watching this every year.

Gajdisova d Medina Garrigues earlier in 3 sets earlier today.

Currently Lleyton Hewitt has just taken the 2nd set against Fernando Verdasco 6-3 to make it 1 set apiece.

Hewitt seems to be getting better with every point.

Impressed with Lleyton, even though he lost.

Great to watch Jarmila Gajdosova in her win

(She did fight back well after an indifferent second set also. That forehand is a very powerful weapon when on song)

One once again showing nothing but contempt with the sports it bought the rights for with scant coverage of the Hopman Cup. Even 7 has pretty much dedicated 7TWO for the Brisbane International (which normally gets slotted in with the Danoz ads on 7's main channel)

Wozniacki makes me sick. Disgraceful game.

Tough to pick a winner in the womens draw for the Aus open especially with the injury clouds over Clijsters and Williams and the continued poor form of Stosur and to a lesser extent Wozniacki. Might go for Kvitova or Li Na.

In the mens side it looks like the usual Federer, Nadal, Djokovic run for the title. Hoping someone else steps up though.

If Williams is fit, she will win.

Kvitova looking rusty in Sydney, having played in indoors in Perth.

Agreed. Would rather we try and get an ATP Champions series or a Futures series event. Every other state (including Tasmania) has a proper tennis tournament so why can't we.

We did, it was a men's tournament, but that was before it was taken off us and given to Brisbane and was merged with the woman's event.

And rightly so with Pat Rafter Arena crapping all over Memorial Drive

Memorial Drive would be ideal for a Champions Tour or Futures Tour event. If Hobart can have a proper Tennis event then surely Tennis SA can get off their arses and get a proper tennis event back for Adelaide.

Well, that's the Open done for me for another year :( . Really disappointing display, needs to find the mental toughness needed to remain in the top 40. No doubting her power and strength, but refusing to deviate from the same plan time and again - go for long shots to the lines - cost her today.

Stosur's match was also mystifying for its lack of urgency at times. Not sure what is happening there, but her lack of performance in the Australian Open over a number of years must be a major concern for her.

I give Ley Ley his dues for a fantastic career and the way he still fights to the end but why is he still playing on the tour?

He is clearly past it and his body is falling apart.

Surely the end is nigh ...

I don't reckon he'll retire for a few years yet, I suspect the lure of prizemoney will be too much for him.
