nvidia geforce2 ???????

Postby GWW » Sun Aug 27, 2006 2:40 am

Before i mention the purpose of this thread i'll just mention that i'm essentially IT illiterate....

Anyway, recently i tried to download a game (http://www.secondlife.com/), but was disappointed to learn that the process was unsuccessful - the "color quality" needed to be 36, but the capacity on my PC was only 24. The person who told me about this game said i needed a video card, namely nvidia geforce2, which costs about $100.

Does anyone know if its possible to bypass the option of purchasing this? Is there some other process/procedure that i can use so that i can upgrade the color quality and complete the downloading of this game, or would i need to shell out the $100 in order to download this game?

Any advice much appreciated.

What video card are you using at present? Gforce2 is hardly cutting edge. From your desktop ,right click/properties/settings you will have an option to select colour quality.I have the option of 24 or 32 bit colour perhaps you do too.Good luck

Yeah i went to the desktop but the maximum for the color quality was 24, so i presume my PC as it is, i cant download certain games.

Thanks for the reply :)

I used to keep up to date with the latest cards but it moves so quickly I wouldn't know what a cutting edge card is now. I've had a GForce 2 for several years and it's served me well but is starting to show its age a bit.

GWW I don't know what sort of card yours is but if you can find the brand and number you might be able to download the latest drivers for it which could give it a boost.
