Set up a DVD to TV

Postby Dutchy » Tue Jul 04, 2006 3:18 pm

I have a old TV (15 years) and want to know if you can hook up a DVD player to it?

Usually on a TV you have the Red, Yellow and White plugs that accept the cord from the DVD player and your done however this TV is old therefore doesnt have this option...all it has is the antenna plug hole at the back, I managed to connect a video player to it and it works (coxial plug?)

anyone got any ideas or feel free to let me know that it cant be done and I can stop wasting my time!

Cheers

Yeah, it's possible in some occasions.

You can daisy chain the DVD, VCR and TV making it work, in theory.
If your VCR has RCA plugs (the red/white/yellow) then try plugging the DVD player into the VCR and then setting the VCR to use the Line IN that it's plugged in to.

Then, set the TV to receive the picture from the VCR via the Coax cable which is what you've already done.

This will work depending on the type of DVD player, and VCR, that you have.

Probably better to go for an RF modulator. Its an AV to coaxial converter box.

Sorry I took this long to get back to you.

I'm not sure how much the converters are, but they'll be worth quite less money than a new TV.

But if you want a new TV I can set you up with one. I have a 68cm Samsung at my work for $399, or a 66cm Widescreen set for $649.

Ive got 2 TVs that don't have RCA inputs.
One's only 10 years old and is 51cm wide and only cost me $20, works a treat hooked up to my son's PS2.
