Im looking at the moment aswell.

The computer will be used for my work, typing up faxes and connecting into the work system from home if I need to, checking emails etc. Apart from that will only get used for general stuff like surfing the net and maybe using a little of adobe photoshop (maybe).
I plan to keep it for a few years so want something good.
Had a look quickly on the net last night, thinking a i7 with 4gb of ram and 500+ of storage. The computer guy at work said to get either a HP or a Toshiba, but all you guys seem to think ASUS, any help would be appreciated.
cheers

If anyone is interested, I am selling my netbook.
It's as good as brand new, and only a few months old. Used rarely.

It's a Toshiba netbook. Brilliant little machine.

I think RRP is still $500 (which is what I paid). I also bought a bluetooth mouse for it.

I'd sell it for $380 (it's as good as new + mouse)
I love 'Food and Stuff'. It's where I buy all of my food. And most of my stuff.

Thinking I might get this one tomorrow while JBs have a 15% sale tomorrow. Got good reviews, small and lightweight but good specs. http://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers/hp/h ... sku-68145/

Will probably have to buy it online though - it's $135 cheaper! (can't find it anywhere else under 1K)

Graphics card question...

I desperately need to buy a new laptop to run DJ/Music Editing software/hardware on, but would like it to double as a gaming laptop (mainly for the if-it-ever-gets-released Diablo III).

The problem is that most laptops between $1500-2000 don't have super graphics cards on them and it seems to be a choice between the AMD Radeon 6770M or a NVIDIA GeForce 550M [Although the 'Alienware' 14" has a NVIDIA GeForce 555M with 3GB Ded. Graphics, but you seem to pay top price for the 'brand'].

Just wondering if anyone has been running recently released games on the aforementioned graphics cards and if you've got any opinion on their performance? Also, how big is the risk buying such a laptop in the hope that Diablo III (which might not be released for another year) runs at good-to-high performance?

Test and review nearly every laptop on the market, including notebook graphic cards.

Aware of it TSG, thanks. I just wonder whether the 6770M will be suitable for high performance games in year's time.

If it can easily play intense graphic games now, you will be safe for a couple of years easy.

After 7 years I've finally decided to upgrade my laptop. Purchased a top of the range one back then but over the last year has been running quite slow.

Not after anything too fancy. Just need it for the basics. Word, Excel, & Internet (browsing & downloading).

Would be great if someone could give me an idea on what I should be spending for something reliable or recommed a laptop.

Cheers.
