If I get another of these "Microsoft" calls again, I'll probably consider unplugging my landline again.

Are you on the Do Not Call register? I would throw at them that they are in breach of Australian Federal law watch them back pedal faster than a labor politician.....

doesnt the do not call register only stop the legitemate callers though? these microsoft type calls are all a scam. if they are defrauding you to begin with, i doubt that they would be worried about breaking further laws by ringing people on the do not call register.

we have a private number, have had it since we moved in, are not registered on the do not call register, and have never gotten one of these types of calls.

Ditto - no callers on my unlisted line.
The problem with the do not call register, IIRC, is that charities are exempted and it becomes an easy do call list for them.

Never had 1 of them in the time I have had numbers listed on there.

One one call I have had as mentioned previously they were quick to point out that they were exempt and would completely understand if I declined to take part.

The Do Not Call register only applies to Australian businesses. Most of these calls originate from OS.

As much as these people are an absolute pain in the backside, its good to be able to let off a bit of steam by abusing them without feeling any sort of guilt at all.

I got the call a day or so ago - but also got a call on the same day, about some "solar rebate" or something....anyone know what thats all about?
