Microsoft shot themselves in the foot. Surely they'll try to scale back the stupidness before they hit the shelves.

It's official, Microsoft just published a complete reversal on Xbox One DRM Policies.

The important parts:

- No more always online requirement
- The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours
- All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360
- An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console
- All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline
- No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs
Region locks have been dropped

Because of this, the new console should now be called "Xbox One 80".

It does look kinda bad they had to change that many things to just be competitive, but I dont think they had a choice.

Have they done anything about the Kinnect issue. I guess if you dont have a constant internet connection it wouldnt be an issue, but it would be for people that are always connected

They got big heads I reckon. Thought just because the 360 was doing so well now that people would just eat up whatever they dished out.

The used game thing was because the game developers and Microsoft make $0 from used games. Its the same sort of thing they did by making a lot of multiplayer games online instead of split screen.

If you buy a game on a disc, you'll always have to have the disc to play the game, and the Xbox's family sharing plan that would have allowed up to 10 people to share a game library is now pretty much defunct.

I thought with the Xbox One you only used the disk to install the game, then you didnt have to use it to play the game.

Have they changed this?

Because of the backlash yes.

The idea was you could use your games in the cloud and share with 10 people/family I think.

It's a bit hard to do that if you can copy the games to the cloud then sell them isn't it?

Most people are looking at the initial offer, and the new offer, in the totally wrong way
