Although the JC's are all about finding the value, we also need to study the opposition.

Take Scone today - Reith was the fave, and rightly so.
Has won the first three races and is home.

Sometimes we look into things a little too much with the JC when the glaringly obvious is there for us to see.

It's easy to look for, and back something at value, but we must consider the opposition.

Like today, when backing against Reith was always going to be done at your own peril.

Sorry guys I had a good look for over an hour this morning, I had a late start to the day due to a visit to the trials this morning and I could not conclusivly say that anything was big overs. I thought the favs were going to domiante today.

Reith and Messara must be respected at Scone

For anyone interested in the 2YOs best trial to me was Go The Knuckle; sat off them finished second under a hold. Looks like a miler but will be backing it first start, its by Elvstroem. A Choisir filly won the trial, speed machine but Go the Knuckle a better horse. Didnt like much in the other two year old trials. A Snitzel colt went ok that I need to find out more about it.

Other great trials were Condelago and Belfast Boy. BB led stirling grove by 7 on the corner and held it off by five, untouched.

Condelago won its trial; will be backing it first up in anything 1200 plus.

Cheers for the heads up on the two year olds AG.

Theres nothing to be "sorry" about, if you didnt find value, then nothing you can do about it.

Great to have you back on here AG.

A bit over week ago I started a pretty extensive blackbook - all states included.

Hopefully we'll start seeing a few of them running around again in the next week or two.

As punters, we're pretty quick to jump on things early without much thought.
But there's so many factors which can help you make a decision backing or not backing a horse (or even a blackbooker).

Calculated decisions need to be made with cool heads, not kneejerk reactions.

Lets hope we can have some healthy discussions in here to make us better punters.
