The cars have all stopped on grid and now race control has decided they will have a restart when track is clear. We are set for a 5 lap dash

What a crock of crap, vettels tyres wouldnt have gone the distance, how on earth are you allowed to change tyres while parked on the grid under a red flag. Massive advantage to vettel

Webber up to 4th, poor start and poor pitstop cost him a higher spot

Hamilton should be excluded from the results at the very least. Schumacher never just punted people off the track like Hamilton did tonight to Massa and Maldonado (apart from Championship deciding moves)

Yes, there's being 'bullish' and then there's just being a pr!ck...

Monaco is the one circuit more than any other that frustration can cause people to make stupid moves.

Overall, looks like the real championship battle is for second.

Would love to see Webber take Massa's seat at Ferrari next year (won't happen, but how good would it be!?)

Webber has the pace. 4 fastest laps in 5 races. Just can't start a race well. One of the better Monaco GPs, ruined by the stoppage.

Hamilton should be excluded from the results at the very least. Schumacher never just punted people off the track like Hamilton did tonight to Massa and Maldonado (apart from Championship deciding moves)

Can I remind you of 2 championship deciding races, just for starters: 1994 in Adelaide where MSC punted of Hill to win the WDC, and 1997 at Jerez where his attempt to smash Villeneuve's suspension failed, and JV went on to do what his Dad never did.

Anyway, here's my take on last night's race:

1. Hamilton's moves on Maldonado and Massa were misjudgments, and it would be nice if he could admit it....but he was having a go. In the old days there were never penalties for this type of incident, but the fact that there are penalties for this is at least partly a legacy of the Schumacher era. However, I think Hamilton's overtake on MSC at St Devote was one the best in recent F1 history, but it took a driver of the calibre of MSC to see it coming..

2. Vettel is a very lucky boy. I can see new rules coming into play after he was allowed to change tyres before the restart. What's more, if you were watching the live timing during the race, his pace was never great on his 2nd set of tyres, compared to Button and Alonso.

3. Button's race was outstanding, as was Alonso's. It's the first time I can every recall the top three drivers finishing almost nose to tail, but all on different pit stop strategies: Vettel - 1, Alonso - 2, Button - 3. As always at Monaco though, track position is king.

4. Webber once again was the most unlucky driver on the grid (except perhaps for Petrov with his accident). Since when does your team mate's issues with pit to car radio affect your own race?? I thought Mark did well to get 3rd in Q3, given his probs on Thursday. Once he got a clear track he sets fastest lap again, albeit on the last lap. I get the feeling the RBR want the ability to "morally" get MW to give way to SV as soon as possible this season...

5. Massa is no longer up to it at Ferrari. No doubt he has put in a lot of effort post-accident, but his pace is not the same (remember he used to outqualify and outrace Kimi regularly). As for Cambridge Clarrie, I would love to Webber in the prancing horse next year...and Ricciardo in the other RBR seat. But hey now I'm just dreaming.

Bring on Canada...I love that circuit!

Agreed. Some call it stupidity, some over-enthusiasm, some recklessness, others misjudgment..

My point is, if penalising someone for simply misjudging a move or 2 then we will never see any decent overtaking in F1, for fear of the stewards. We're talking about decisions made in fractions of a second. Some slack needs to be given, esp. at Monaco. If they cock up then they cock up...but let them race..

thing is though hamilton has had to front the stewards 5 times in 6 races- according to an BBC interview. hamiltons penalties were fair on both occasions imo, he tried to "muscle" his was past both maldonado and massa and failed. On the other hand his pass on schuey going into sainte devote was well executed

hmm I bet the whole Bahrain situation will flare up again when the world media head there in October

And are India going to be ready? Remember how corrupt and mismanaged the commonwealth games were... That was only last year!

The FIA have very strict controls over that sort of thing, so the track will be ready
