They still would have lost as they only kicked 2 points after score was wiped and they didn't have that big a score at the time apparently
So you've seen everything have you?

However at the bottom of the page it says: Southern Districts lost score for 19 players on field.

Southern were 9 pts up with three minutes to go and because they had 19 players on the field, their score was taken away from them and they kicked 2 points in those last three minutes, hence their score of 0-2

Speaking to a trainer who was at the game he said that it happened straight after half time. At the first bounce one of the southern players realised that there were too many on the ground and ran for the interchange. Western saw him and called for the count. Player was off the ground when the count was called, but went back on when asked by the umpires and was included. Western were awarded a free kick in the goalsquare and Southern had their score zeroed (from 5-1), but the scoreboard wasn't corrected until after the game.

it was about 5 minutes in and the ball had been in southerns forward several times and the western backs couldnt work out why they were one defender short,at first thought they were playing loose man in there 50..until a player had a quick count and told the captain,as soon as southern heard the call for a count a player sprinted for the bench and was then called back out for the head count.

So how long was it really??

Depends what you mean by impact...
Did his being on the field impact match-ups? Did he fill a hole somewhere, meaning an opponent passed elsewhere?
It's not just about scoreboard impact or possession any more...

Who cares how long it was.

They won't change a rule for one game result, they won't retrospectively change the score.

In ten years time the budget will read:

2011: Western Zone

Move on...

Definately has a bearing on the "impact" not the result.

When did it occur and how long was he on for...There are a number of conflicting stories getting around.

All well and good...... but would a 5 goal penalty not be a better result to keep some interest in the game? thats all I ask

OL i think your idea has some merit and doesnt destroy the game as a spectacle
in most cases it is a very brief oversight . In regards to the comments that its not in the spirit of the game
thats exactly what it was.

Not sure how many remember the famous WFC v BFC game in 2004 when the demons had an extra man on in the last quarter and got nabbed. Lost their score with 7 minutes to go and had to spot the tigers about 6 goals....got done by a point.
From memory about 27 goals was wiped....gave the Tigers their first win for about 3 years.

 How could i forget, I was there. Shattering. Even more shattering getting that close again! Long Bomb Tom just grabbed the ball in the guts and banged 'em in, just ran out of time.
I see the argument for the game losing the 'spectacle' side of it, but teams have to wear it, plain & simple.

And the WFC coach? Brian Ramsey... ;)

I remember playing two's for Bostons under Grizz Tiller a few years ago, and we seemed to be cruising towards the finals, until we got caught with an extra player against Tasmans...

Lost every game for the rest of the year...

The 2009 Eastern Eyre grand final had a count and Kimba were penalised for having an extra player on the ground. However mainly through the insistance of the Cowell captain, Kimba did not have their score wiped.

Ironically the Cowell captain in question played for Western Zone in last weekends match against Southern.

So you are saying that the opposition has the right to decide if they wipe the score? Is that correct

so the same could be said if an umpire makes a decision during a game and the reciever of the kick says" geez thats a bit stiff mate, thats not a free kick.here umpire just ball it up" haha what a joke.Rules are rules fullstop, theres only one thing worse than a cocky winner and thats a sore loser.
