The player is mostly at fault. He approached the official and bought up the subject and continued to pester our official. The official could have walked away when the words became heated, but chose not to, which he has been spoken to about this.
Well done to a couple of innocent bystanders for getting inbetween the two before it got out of hand.
Is the player going to be spoken to by his club for this? It is not the way to approach an issue, this is why we have delegates and meetings.
If I had my way the player would be getting 2 weeks suspension

Any situation between a player and league official is not to be condoned,
from what I ve seen posted it obviously happened at a pub so alcohol is presumed
to be a factor.
I am sure that the players club would address the issue with him and take the necessary action.
But it raises a couple of interesting points as to where our clubs responsibility lie
with players behaviour does it end after the player leaves our clubrooms, does it finish at the end
of the season. or does it only pertain once the player finishes his committment to the club.
The players arent professionals and can clubs be held responsible for their lifestyle choices
ie drinking, recreational drugs and general behaviour.

good comment Ken. I dont think clubs can be held responsible as such but the reputation of the club can be tarnished a lot. Lads that wear out the clubs coloured shirts on a Saturday night ARE still representing the club IMO as it is their choice to wear it. If they wear the official club shirt then they are representing the club still and MUST be on best behaviour and set a good example. anyone who doesnt is letting themselves and the club down and they should be told so. "If you are going to behave in that manor then please take that shirt off" must come from the club.
I think it is up to coaches/football managers/senior respected supporters to have a word when required and pull people into line.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
At the end of the day, league officials are not fair game and a certain amount of respect should be accorded.
The real issue relates to what the altercation was over. If a disagreement over who got served at the bar first then play on, but if it was a go at the person and the position that he holds then something should be done.

I don't think clubs just simply just wash thier hands of players indescretions because they don't have the club shirt on. If blokes are making comments to the league official about the football league, then they are representing the club to that official and therefore should be held to account for there actions. One would hope the full force of the league comes down on this poor behaviour else it will continue until it escalates into something more sinister. IMO this is the only way this particular player will learn and recify his ways.

Spoke to a couple of people close to the people involved, Tokers, tonight and kwf the player has to be held accountable for his actions. You cant hide behind the alcohol factor.
How can a player be allowed to approach a league president and give him a verbal spray about Ken Campbells suspension and tell him to F O
After what has been happening of late, just going from what I have seen of some of your players, I have come to the assumption there is a drinking/anti-social problem at your club.
How can a club tolerate what has happened this year kwf From what I have seen it includes assaulting/hindering firefighters, arrests, bans from hotels, intoxicated players that need assistance to get to a taxi. I have heared of bans from the ravendale complex, unhappy hockey players who are not willing to stay and drink, pissing off balconies.
This may be laughable to some but as a parent kwf how do you feel about your son one day mixing with these lads behaving like this. I am sure some parents would be concerned of the junior players.
All clubs have issues from time to time and we have had ours but it just seems at present your particular bunch of lads need discipline. The warnings simply hasn't worked. If your club had any balls it would suspend the player for 2 weeks.
Am I out of line or do I have a point?
