Agreed. Plus this debate was had last season & a point came up - I think it has to be made clear at season's commencement that the bottom-placed club will go down etc etc, not as the season ends. Obviously I'm an ex Dev & I think to place emphasis on one year after we had a bit of a purple patch 3 years back would suck as i don't think the future's as bleak as this year's results suggest.
The team coming up...that's one that no-one seems to put their hand up for. Points have perhaps evened things out somewhat but the Hughes influence (ie someone with big coin) still gets big recruits to clubs, something a Country team would need.

In a perfect world and looking at team lists Id say that the curernt pace setters could go in with the teams they have now and be competitive.

I see nothing has changed Kangarilla way. Always been a bunch of sooks. They were in the SFL, won themselves a flag in the HFL and now they're back to where they belong.

Please elaborate...?

An "anonymous" Kangarilla person contacted the HFL and said that the Echunga A grade were way too good and that the new players to the club should all be re-rated as it's just not fair...
Would put the HFL in a bit of a pickle if they tried this considering these players were signed at the club based on the points the league allocated. If they re-rated them higher and were not able to play is the league going to pay their contracts??? For Echunga then to have to try and replace these players at this time of the year would be very hard and if they are forced to pay more is the league going to pay the difference???
If I were the HFL I would have told the Kangarilla Football Club to toughen up!

So rather than trying to look at how THEY can improve Kangy instead decided to go sooking hoping to bring others back to their level? Bunch of winners over that way!

Might have backfired though.... unless all of their new players are handed 4-5 points the demons should be under. Looking at sporting pulse 95% of their line up played last season and as I understand it Carey would be the highest points player coming from SANFL? Can anyone confirm this?

I would agree Carey would be the highest points player coming from SANFL.
Echunga's best though on the weekend looks like there would be only a few points players there, and all except 1 played last year, so what are Kangy on about?
B White - Would be 0
S Maslin - Would be 0
A Edwards - Would be 0
J Beverlander - Might still be a 1 pointer? unsure
A Jennings - Unsure?

My understanding is, that even with all of their current players fit and available, they still have 5 points up their sleeve.

And if players like Brock Rothe, Dan Threadgold and Jason Baylis can make their way into the team they will still have 3 points!

If they have five left and Dan is worth 2 that equals 3 points left...

If the story about Kangarilla is true, geez, Callington would have been ringing the league every week for the past few years about whoever they played.
Good luck to Echunga for their recruiting. Thats the way it goes

panther 32 a few facts !
claims of kangarilla trying to change some of echungas recruits points
is totally incorrect heard that down the pub did you ?
as for echunga having 5 points left over incorrect again
used 11 points last saturday minus 1 point for a senior colt
thats there full quota
and last saturday echunga and or the hills football league failed to allocate points to 2 echunga
players
so in future get your facts right before making outrageous statements / claims
the only true statement you made is that echunga are a very good side however
a few injurys would soon bring them back to a few other sides

Perhaps this highlights the current problems with the points system

Should echunga and kersbrook be on say 8 points only to even it up a bit. you cant blame these sides with the $ and the contacts for using all their points.

Definitely wasn't heard down at the pub, was heard from someone inside the club at Echunga (won't mention names) who told me a HFL official contacted the Coach and club about a complaint from an "anonymous" Kangarilla person, let's call him...Coward shall we, who rang the league to make a complaint that the Echunga side was too good and they needed to re rate their recruits.
Now to say that Echunga or the Hills league forgot to allocate points to two players is a load of shit. All players were rated at the start of the season on consultation with the HFL. It seems to keep Kangarilla happy they have re-rated the recruits. Unfortunately it won't alter the team as it uncovered that a 3 point player is in fact a 0 point player... Good work Kangarilla!
