an article in the sunday telegraph

Blucher said he hoped there would be no bad blood between Tippett and Adelaide.

"Kurt could have left Adelaide three or four years ago," he said.

"Out of respect for the club that he has really loved, he stayed.

"But at the end of the day he felt the package the Swans had to offer ticked all the boxes."
I find that absolutely staggering, he shouldve left back then and the crows couldve had the opportunity to use that cash into another player

thought the extra money they have in the salary cap was to keep players there because of the home sickness issues?

Love this quote

That led to Monday's meeting on the Gold Coast which went unnoticed by the media.

So, whilst Rucci was back here writing his crap that every club except the Dallas Cowboys were going to sign him, he missed the big one

They coverted him from basketball to AFL have paid him well developed him now hes off as he enters the prime of his carrer. I think he has S##t on the Crows big time. I understand AFL is a buisness these days but his story is abit diffrent to a Stewy Dew, Darren Jarman etc the Crows made him who he is. I have watched most Crows games this year and after this week it has confirmed that he has the heart the size of a pea. Other than the loyalty thing im not that concerned hes leaving 38 goals for the season not real value for money. Value for money id rather have someone like Jay Shultz as a genuine target up forward than some one who cant kick over a jam jar. Going to Sydney may not be the right culture as it sounds like they have a genuine team enviroment Kurt is all about show me the money. I hope he ends up at the Power for half the money he was on at the Crows. In my opinion hes the highest paid crow and not even in the top 10 players where did he finish in the Crows BNF. If I was coach I would of droped him due to poor form.

This argument doesn't make any sense. It'd be like a kid finishing his electrical trade apprenticeship off with a local sparky then expected to knock back big bucks from mining companies if the offers are there.

The only dodgy part of the whole thing was the apparent "go home" factor in his decision to leave Adelaide, then signing with Sydney. Stinks of Mitch Clark repeatedly saying that he wanted to leave Brisbane and come back to Perth to be close to a dying relative, only to sign with Melbourne. Just be open and say you're chasing the better deal.

Players have the opportunity to make big money and set themselves up for life in what is actually a short lived career for most. I cant fault them for wanting that.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

I agree.

Interestingly, the "AFL PLAYER RULES" don't even appear to mention cost of living or inflation anyway.

The cost of living payments for the Swans is an extra 14k for each player on top of their existing contract. Hardly enough to sway choices of whether to stay or go.

I think TSG is right in that the Swans extra cap space ($862K according to this article I just read) is for cost of living.

http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/kennet ... 6489895759

That's about $20K per player.

I am not sure that extra cap space is the reason they have been able to chase Tippett. Without going through their list player by player off the top of my head they have less "star" players than say a Collingwood but an emerging group on young stars on the way up salary wise. That says to me something will have to give in the next few years to make room for Tippett even if we don't see an immediate "give" in 2013.

I reckon this trade deal will be fascinating. Surely the alleged agreement that the Crows would let him go for a second round pick did not anticipate he would walk to the reigning premier (pick 22 I think)!
In between signatures .....

So with Perth becomming the most expensive city in Australia to live does this mean Freo and WCE will get extra in their salary cap?
