Doesn't take long for all the doomsayers to jump online and give a serve.

Dugga knows his football and the dedication that goes with it to be a success. ( If South had another 5 players who put in like Dugga did, quite possible that we would have had 2 in a row)

Give the man a chance to show what he can bring to the NFC ( He brought you 2 premierships) he might use some of the Bass play book, he will have plenty of good pages to add to it.

Has to be a better option than Cotton ever was or would be.

Onya Ben, plenty of Southies will be pleased for you.
I wish my remembering was as good as my forgetting

Good luck to Ben,he is a good bloke. Tough gig for him, wins and everyone says it's from Bassetts previous work , lose and he can't coach.

Might be worth dragging out Bunton's post from a few years back where he stated Warren was about to walk out on Norwood.

Two flags and one full time coaching position later he appears to be just hanging in there. :D

Shame Dugga's got such a two faced, rancid Board who've handed him the job in an effectively meaningless competition as he's a top bloke who deserves better.

Of course, no-one screams out 'cow-towing sellout to the AFL' like Ben Warren. If only they'd appointed a recently retired 200-game AFL player who'd never pulled on the boots in the SANFL—would have been a different story for the integrity of our comp, then.

Lots of funny reactions here. The 'you shouldn't coach the same club you played for' line might (or might not) be a valid criticism. But 'he's only just finished playing and has no coaching experience' obviously ain't. Every flag that Norwood has won while I've been alive, has been won under a coach who'd only just finished his playing career (or was even still playing) when appointed, and at the time of appointment had little or no formal coaching experience. And we've won flags under 4 coaches while I've been alive.

So apparently if you're a great bloke you make a good coach.

I'm not sure anyone had said that. Just that one of his major assets is that he is a good guy. Where as the last Norwood coach was often criticized for being the opposite at times.

I personally don't think being a "nice guy" helps or hinders as long as he can make tough calls when they are needed.

Bassett I believe had never been a head coach before his appointment? Even at Jnr level, But I could be wrong.

Excuse my ignorance but where does Dugga come from?
I could understand if his first name was Doug or his surname was Duldig or his nickname was Rabbits?
I even looked up the word online and it means a small test at uni or to rain lightly so that didn't really help me.
Is Ben too hard to pronounce?

How long do we have to wait before the official backflip and the real coach is appointed?
Budget Coach?? Norwood in more financial trouble than we know?

How so? Just because one club choses to appoint a coach straight out of retirement?
