Forced transfers

Postby FOURTH ESTATE » Mon Dec 16, 2013 9:49 pm

With the advent of the Crows and Power reserves side for season 2014 the following article appeared in Inside Football this week.

Swan Districts after throwing everything into winning the 2010 Premiership and heavily recruiting the wheels have fallen of the wagon both on & off the field for the Black & Whites. During that period the club was marred by mismanagement of the finances with the result that the club is badly in debt and in no position to recruit quality players or indeed to maintain some of those who were previously well paid. Andrew Krakouer was just the icing on the cake with his departure to reigning premiers West Perth, and to rub salt into the wound homegrown talent Jamie Bennell and Murray Newman will be forced to play at East Perth under the new alignment with West Coast.

WA clubs voted against Eagles and Dockers reserves side but the commission over ruled them. At least they had the guts to stand up and show some balls. When clubs here start losing players to the Cows and Paps on a regular basis they might wake up and realise how much of a huge F*&K*NG Mistake it was to let them in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bollocks.

Your club (not you) sold your vote. Saying it was going to happen regardless will require proof.

If you have it, I will withdraw the bollocks.....

ABSOLUTE JOKE!!

And completely typical of this forum.

Swan Districts (of which I am a supporter) mismanaged themselves into a financial malaise. You focus on the final line of the story that happens to mention a couple of player transfers as if that is the reason.

I agree in fact. Their management over the last few years has been disgraceful. They are compromised in so many ways whilst Trigg remains CEO.

Nice way to change the subject. Yeah our club might be crap but the Crows are crap too.

Could just imagine Port supporters at the doctor.

Dr: You're fat
Port Supporter: Yeah but my neighbour is fat too so it doesn't matter
Dr: * face palm *

Beenreal a little sensistive are we?? That is not their problem for the mess they are in. Are you a supporter or a Swans member?
Yes I am a member of my club Claremont and we have just as much trouble losing draftees to East Perth including our U18 premiership captain who was rookie listed. The article was just to highlight the problems that clubs will have with this arrangement not the Swans financial plight but do love seeing the Bogans from Bassendean squirming

Exactly. A lesson the league learnt quickly from the WA experience circa 1990.

Without knowing what the WA clubs were really thinking, nor how convinced any one of them were that their commission was going to pull rank anyway, might it not have been easier to publicly save face by voting no than it was for the SA clubs who, as SMAC alluded, were authors of the eventual call?

He sure does. He had a beer last night with Alistair Clarkson, Peter Burgoyne, Stewart Drew, Allan Richardson, Mark Williams, Chad Cornes, Dean Brogan, Brent Guerra, and the people who have lent and are still owed by the PAFC. There were about 500,000 there.
