Simplzzz ;)

so how many other world cricketers bat in the top 3 and bowl 10+ overs an innings?

Watson bowled more than 10 overs in only 2 innings in the home Ashes series.

Not sure watto bowls 10 does he?
But to answer your question.....dunno.
Pity about Faulkner but when he gets back he'll take Watson's role.
Short term, Henriques will be adequate

That's because they were so thoroughly smashed he didn't have to!

If you divide all the balls he has bowled into 6 ball overs, he averages 10.2 overs per innings bowled

He has only bowled 71 inns in 51 matches, compared to batting 95 times, we lost by an innings a few times, and there was a fair while where he played as a batsmen only

In England he bowled more than 10 five times out of 9, India he didn't bowl, and he delivered 47 overs in the Hobart test against SL, though hilfy did break down.

I think we need him bowling to be of more value to the team than others.

Making a hundred, which a top 6 bat should do, is just taxing no matter where you bat in the top 6. Maybe more so at 6 because you are batting with the tail and score a lot of singles.
So i dont get the argument for him batting at 6 so he can bowl more overs, unless he cracks a hundred of 65 balls. and the rest of the blokes bat for a hundred+ overs.

Agree with this, but it's more so the value of those half centuries that he makes. At 3 they don't win matches but if he comes in down the order and does it it can win games. Haddins summer a perfect example

This only works if we find a decent no 3 so when Watto comes in the pressure is off and ha can go at the bowling . For me Watto is still better at the top of the order as he is better against the quicks than the spinners and the new ball is easier for him to get hold of than the old one the way he plays .

all good points, i tend to agree with you in the short term, but finding a number 3 should be our priority as it is definitely the weak link in our team at the moment, now that rogers and smith seem to have established themselves and are going well.

or watto could just start living up to his potential instead of giving us glimpses every now and then, because he could be the most destructive batsman in world cricket if he pulls his finger out. dont get me wrong, on current form i still think he gets his place in the team, and i know we have been saying that for years but i still think he can do it.

If we weren't talking about where Watto should fit in everything would be fine with his game.
But we are talking about it.
South Africa to be his defining tour.

The playing surface is under water. No covers would have saved the game

The players when leaving the place didn't have shoes on because the water was low shin height.

Shaun Marsh is in the PS squad to play HH tonight in the BBL Final
Question is :
If is his fitness is now OK , should he now be sent to South Africa , and perhaps Phillip Hughes sent home ?

The selectors, after all , did select Marsh in the original Test squad

Maybe they told him that he had an injury after seeing the error of their ways?

Also being fit for a T20 is different than a test match. Might be interesting for when the second test rolls around though?

The Aussies will be playing the first test in a South Australian State Guernsey out of respect for Clem Hill who played both Test Cricket and State football for SA.

Clem averaged 62.66 against South Africa in Tests, and this will be a fitting tribute to a legend.

Also heard that all players in tonight BBL final will receive a Baggy Green to honour the greats that have played test cricket for Australia. Seems legit.
