Will a draw be enough for TTG to win the premiership or is there compulsory declaration? Do they still go in to Monday if needed? Rules seem to change every season - can't keep up. Match being played at Glenelg Oval.

Why would the rules change regarding declarations? Would think only the Monday would be used as a reserve day if the weekend was a washout.

Interesting I was flicking through one of the clubs that is over 100 years old history books and back in the early parts of last century the grand final was played over 4 consecutive weekends in some cases.

I know I was there on the Sunday....despite not being a full time player at that point.

We were in a spot of bother too until a couple of blokes by the names of B.A Johnson and C.J Davies got together carving out a hundred each on the Saturday.

But was in the thick of it in the old Adelaide Oval dressing rooms when the umpires decided to come back on the Monday despite it not being a 3 day final. By the time Uni commitments finished the next day it was all over!

Sure was TS, think they were 3 fa 40 odd when I left. ND been slack on updating mycricket so cant see who made the runs

Silly by Woodville, had them on toast with the bat, yet hit out on the second day with a few lads caught on the boundary. All they had to do was bat for another 30-40 minutes and was game over!

Burge 88, Hanso 40 odd i think with perks unsure how many and young goers 35 not out

I believe Port have 4 A Grade Premierships (last in 1967/68 with Neil Hawke and Eric Freeman) and TTG have one from 1995/96. Obviously TTG have plenty of limited-over premierships from the last few years, but would be keen on the big one.

Other Grades Finals:
B Grade - Kensington vs Northern Districts
C Grade - East Torrens vs Glenelg
D Grade - Tea Tree Gully vs Glenelg
U16R - Kensington vs West Torrens
U16W - Northern Districts vs Tea Tree Gully
U14R - West Torrens vs Kensington
U14W - Sturt vs Kensington

Tea Tree Gully also took out the Club Championship.

Kensington and West Torrens still producing quality juniors then.
Browns have 4 of the last 9 U/14 premierships and Eagles 5 of the last 7 U/16 premierships. Although interestingly, with all the recent Kensi U/14 premierships, there hasn't been a U/16 flag for 20 years - so they'll be keen for that one.

There could be a reason for that...... School Cricket and any decent ones left after that are probably playing seniors....

Interesting point Heater, agree entirely.

I know at WT, they believe you play in your grade and wont push kids up. I know SACA have the other view, that kids should be pushed up to test them, etc. Which one is correct, who knows?

Our A's this year had 4 17 year olds at times in the team, all who did not play up when in Under 16's, all won the 16 Reds Premiership. Other clubs have pushed up kids, for instance Glenelg do it and have had kids in B, C and D, but all those similar kids are still in B and C now, so has it worked? There is something to be said for team success and building a winning culture.

I reckon the standard of Under 16's has dropped over the years, due to College cricket and kids playing in Seniors now.

Makes for an interesting debate, I do believe talented kids should play up (although in D's is a waste of time, even C's to an extent), but respect my Clubs view in not doing this also.

Interesting topic.

My personal view is that if a player has done really well in a particular grade in one season they should go up the next season. Eg if a kid did well in the U16 Reds then they should go out to the seniors the next season, rather than play another season in a grade they have already dominated.

However players should never be put up on potential or to fill numbers - it should only be done on results.

Easier said than done with the numbers thing.

Bradman Medal tonight anyone?

One of the Gullies boys perhaps? Tietjens a few wickets. Jake Brown and Alex Ross around the mark you'd think. Didn't mind Nick Benton's season as well.

Yep he will play his second game for Port. Think Botha did the same thing last year with Glenelg.

Massive in!

Port have put together a bloody good team. Gullies still favourites but Port will give it a shake you'd think. Davey, T Evans, Head still hold the key though. Three players capable of a genuine match winning innings. Have stood up in big games before.
